    Neglect filth unsafe care death

I placed my mom here and it was a nightmare. Care was abysmal-meds withheld, rude/unresponsive staff, and residents left unprotected with seizures and other safety risks. The place was filthy, smelled of urine, and doors/gates were unsecured so anyone could walk in/out while alarms went unanswered for 15-20 minutes. Administration ignored concerns, gave no updates, charged high fees for subpar care, and after an infection my mother was sent to the hospital and later died. Do not send your loved ones here.

About Whitehall Healthcare Center of Ann Arbor

Whitehall Healthcare Center of Ann Arbor, now under new management, sits at 3370 E Morgan Rd and takes care of up to 102 residents in its nursing home facility, also offering assisted living and memory care for adults who need extra help with daily tasks or have Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. The building itself is fully furnished with both private suites and shared rooms, kitchenettes, private bathrooms, air-conditioning, phones, internet, and cable. Staff includes licensed nurses, medical practitioners, certified nursing assistants, and physical therapists, all available round the clock, and the team provides help with meals, medication, personal care, activities, transportation, and specialized therapies. This place aims to keep things familiar for seniors, especially those with memory issues, and offers secure areas to stop wandering and keep folks with dementia safe, while offering activities aimed at helping them keep their minds active. Independent living spaces try to give seniors some freedom with fewer chores, and assisted living has help with everyday things like bathing and getting dressed, plus nutritious meals prepared on-site, sometimes with organic food. Memory care communities have programs to cut down on confusion, provide safe spaces, and structure to help prevent residents from getting lost. Family members get help with finding advisors and understanding care options.

The center has a 4.6 out of 5 star rating based on 3,440 reviews and tries to create a welcoming atmosphere, with staff who often get mentioned for being kind and friendly, though not all facilities affiliated with Whitehall have high review scores-Heartland Health Care Center in Ann Arbor, for example, holds only a two-star rating, which might matter to anyone considering nearby alternatives or related sites like Evangelical Home-Saline, The Gilbert Residence in Ypsilanti, or Abco, Inc. in Ann Arbor. Whitehall does offer respite care for short stays, as well as transportation to doctor appointments, and other ongoing needs.

Whitehall has faced problems and been closely watched by the state's Bureau of Health Systems, getting marked as a "special focus facility" after issues like improper hygiene-maggots were even found on a resident after attempts to clean them-and problems with fly control, incomplete staff files, missing certifications, and not keeping good track of residents' fluids, which led to dehydration for some. The state found injuries from poor wheelchair supervision and noted that some areas of the building weren't clean or orderly. Whitehall's management claims to be correcting these problems with new procedures, more retraining, and constant monitoring to meet state and federal rules.

Seniors living there get a 24-hour call system, regular housekeeping, laundry services, meals, and transportation, and there's space for pets and internet access. The focus stays on helping each resident as needed-some folks get help only with moving around or remembering their medicine; others need daily hands-on assistance, including more intensive skilled nursing, rehabilitation services, and wound care when necessary. The facility keeps care tailored to each person by working directly with residents and families, with ongoing feedback collected through platforms like Feefo to try to improve services.

Whitehall Healthcare Center belongs to a broader group of senior living communities offering care levels that range from mostly independent living to full medical supervision, as well as home care and senior apartments through nearby or affiliated sites. The staff tries to help folks feel engaged by offering social events, fitness activities, and regular outings, though how much someone participates depends a lot on their health and abilities. Whitehall, under its new management, stresses safety and connection for its residents but also works through serious quality issues, so anyone considering it might want to ask about current improvements and what daily life looks like before deciding.
