    Compassionate care feels like home

I placed my loved one here and couldn't be happier - the family-owned, well-kept facility feels like home with friendly, attentive staff who provide personalized, compassionate care, including excellent end-of-life support. Daily homemade meals, a clean, peaceful environment and hands-on owner/staff involvement kept us informed and comforted; I highly recommend it.

    About Whispering Pines

Whispering Pines sits in Lapeer, MI, and takes care of seniors who need different levels of help, whether it's with assisted living or more focused needs like dementia or Parkinson's disease, and they keep things small with just 19 assisted living units, so the place doesn't feel crowded and folks get to know each other. The place offers one-bedroom and studio accommodations, along with some semi-private quarters, and the rooms come with cable TV, Wi-Fi, and safety features built in for those who need them, plus there's housekeeping and laundry, so residents don't have to worry about chores like that, and they allow both dogs and cats, which makes it feel more like home for animal lovers. Staff provide help around the clock with basic needs like bathing, dressing, and medication, and they've got folks on hand to manage health concerns including diabetic care, incontinence, manual feeding, and specific supports for dementia and Parkinson's disease, and families find reassurance knowing medication and therapy services like physical, speech, and occupational therapies are available if needed.

Whispering Pines also lines up services like meal help, special diets such as a pureed menu if needed, plus snacks in between, and they try to make sure all meals are nutritious and regular with three served each day, plus guests and family can visit for parties or special gatherings, and staff can coordinate transportation for medical appointments so people don't have to worry about making arrangements. Safety's clearly important because there are fall prevention programs, full safety features, and measures to help stop wandering, which are especially important for memory care residents, and people who have trouble getting around get help with transfers and mobility.

There's a good list of things to do that include social events, board games, exercise activities, technology classes, arts and crafts lessons, and on-site devotional services in the chapel, plus quiet spaces like the garden, library, or communal kitchen for residents who prefer simple routines or a little privacy, and when families want to keep in touch, there's a space for outreach and updates so everyone feels connected. There's a barber and beauty shop on-site, parking for family who visit, and decks and porches for sitting outdoors when the weather's good. If someone needs short-term care, respite is available, and the staff work with personalized care plans, updating them as needs change, which means residents get routines and support that actually fit them, not just a one-size-fits-all approach.

The place is run by Whispering Pines Adult Foster Care Home, LLC, with Troy Enright as general manager, Kimberly Enright as medical administrator, and Renee Miles as the licensee, and it's an adult foster care home with state licensing, so the care and facilities have oversight. Many families like that it's a smaller place that can feel like more of a group home but with access to therapy, health screenings, pharmacy, and podiatry, and with activities both on and off-site for staying engaged. Overall, Whispering Pines provides a secure community where seniors get care suited to their health and personal needs, helping each person keep their independence and feel part of a community, and while no place is perfect, many residents and families value the honest, caring style and range of services on offer.
