    Compassionate staff, but inconsistent safety

I have mixed feelings: the facility is homey, affordable, and staffed by genuinely compassionate, dementia-trained caregivers who run lots of activities, church visits and nice meals with family involvement. However, I also saw understaffing, inconsistent hygiene and safety (missed care, reports of theft/lost items, small shared rooms, and spotty cleanliness). Overall it has great staff and atmosphere but I'd personally verify staffing, security and hygiene before committing.

    About Angelica's Place

Angelica's Place sits on East Lafayette Street in Romeo, Michigan, where the main building is a Colonial-style house with a porch, gable roof, dormers, and big windows that let in a lot of light, and people can enjoy sitting outside or strolling along the landscaped grounds and patio areas, which always seems nice when the weather's good. The community stays secured to help everyone feel safe, and there's a strong focus on providing compassionate and respectful care, from personal pre-assessment planning that makes sure each resident gets the right level of help to a variety of supportive services for memory care and assisted living. Residents who need extra support, whether with bathing, dressing, or medication, get it, and those dealing with Alzheimer's or dementia have specialized programs and supervision, along with tailored activity plans to help them stay engaged and comfortable.

Rooms come furnished, and there's a 24-hour call system for emergencies, with wheelchair accessible showers and spaces so people with different mobility needs aren't left out. The home offers housekeeping, laundry (even dry cleaning if someone needs it), and daily meal preparation, including options for dietary needs like vegetarian meals, plus a hydration program to help everyone stay well. There's an onsite beautician, and residents can join in on arts and crafts, play pool in the activity room, or relax in the common areas like the living room, game room, and library. Social, spiritual, and recreational needs get attention through onsite and offsite devotional services, movie nights, faith-based activities, and outings, with free transportation for appointments or group trips.

Physical health needs are supported with state-licensed occupational therapy, as well as speech and physical therapy, and the community helps those with diabetes or mild cognitive impairment, along with a dementia waiver program and non-ambulatory care if it's required. There are respite and hospice services for people who need them, a recreation room, a swimming pool or hot tub, community-sponsored activities, and programs to keep residents connected. Angelica's Place keeps things locally managed and aims to create a caring family atmosphere in a small, comfortable setting, where both men and women can find either longer-term or short-term care. The doors stay open to people needing help with transfers, incontinence, or daily life tasks, while still encouraging independence and personal preference, and there's always individualized attention with a resident-first mindset.

New residents can get move-in help, and reminders for medications are available, with staff who can assist in multiple languages, mainly English. There's parking for residents, as well as a safe and secure environment for everyone, and it seems like the staff tries to consider what each person needs, whether that's social time, quiet, faith, or extra hands-on support. The facility has a rating of 3.9 from 16 reviews, which points to a place that has strengths and areas folks occasionally see differently, and while Angelica's Place can't be all things to all people, it does offer many smaller touches-like outdoor areas, specialized care, and daily support-to help residents age in place with comfort and dignity.
