    Confident care, friendly staff, recommended

I feel completely confident leaving my loved one at Edgewood. The staff are consistently friendly, caring, and treat residents like family - Carla and the nursing team are attentive and responsive, check-in was seamless, and the place feels clean and homey. Dining is excellent (the banana bread is amazing), activities are plentiful, and individualized care promotes independence and real peace of mind. A few minor negatives - occasional staffing attitude issues and extra charges for some personal-care items - but overall I highly recommend Edgewood.

    About Edgewood Assisted Living Center

Edgewood Assisted Living Center provides licensed assisted living and memory care, with support for daily needs and personal care around the clock, and folks can get more help if they need it, plus there's always someone on staff-nurses, aides, and caregivers-who keep an eye on residents' health without being intrusive, and residents get three home-cooked meals a day, snacks anytime, weekly housekeeping, clean linens, and laundry done for them, so they can spend more time socializing or relaxing, and if someone likes being outdoors, the center's got landscaped walking paths, quiet gardens, a patio under a pergola with comfy seats, and in the memory care area, a peaceful pond and a fountain, which can be nice just to look at for a while. You'll find both studio and one-bedroom apartments, each with safety features like orthopedic beds, big windows for natural light, private bathrooms with easy-access showers and emergency alerts, and heating and cooling controls, so residents can be comfortable and feel at home, and there's cable TV in the rooms. Folks with memory problems, including Alzheimer's and dementia, can live in a secured unit called The Terrace where staff provide personalized care and help residents keep up with daily routines and activities designed to maintain function; the doors in this area stay secure so residents who wander are protected, and there's also a support group for Alzheimer's caregivers that meets monthly. Residents get medication assistance from trained staff and have scheduled wellness checks by nurses or LPNs, and visiting podiatrists come by for foot care, plus there's diabetic care with insulin management, so people with complex health needs get support, and nurses are available at all times.

The center's licensed by the State of Michigan as a Home for the Aged, meets high standards, and sits in a diverse neighborhood where residents can go out for lunch at places like Tim's Tony's Restaurant or even for coffee outings, and there are medical facilities like Saginaw Valley Bone and Joint Center nearby, which gives families peace of mind. People stay busy with movie nights, ice cream socials, arts and crafts, exercise classes, worship services offsite, and social prompts to help everyone join in, and they call friends and family to visit, promoting social interaction for those who want it, so there's a mix of independence, help, and daily structure, and for those who need short-term care, both respite and adult day care are options. Even residents who need a two-person transfer for mobility can get help, and those managing incontinence must be able to take care of themselves; if needed, extra services like nighttime tuck-ins or personal care like bathing and dressing are available for a fee. Folks who enjoy pets are glad to hear small dogs and cats are welcome with registration. The building has an emergency system, security on-site, accessible entrances, a whirlpool bath, and fast internet throughout, and there's space for parking too.

Apartments and common areas, including a fireplace lounge and dining room, are set up for community gatherings, and there are special decorations for holidays like July 4th, so it feels festive sometimes, but it also has quiet areas for those who want less noise. Chefs make a variety of meals, and snacks like fruit or home-baked treats are always available, which is especially nice for people who don't eat much at meal times. The center has 42 rooms for assisted living and 18 for memory care, so it's not too big, and the staff are known for being kind and helpful, which makes new residents feel welcome fast. Wellness is taken seriously, with seminars, games to promote fitness, and support for families, while maintenance and housekeeping take care of the little things. Edgewood supports independence but makes sure help is there when anyone needs it, and it's a steady place for older adults who want comfort, help with daily tasks, and a secure setting if they live with memory loss.
