    Compassionate care with minor issues

I'm extremely pleased with Courtyard Manor - the director and caregiving staff are kind, attentive, and often go above and beyond, with clear communication that gives me real peace of mind. The facility is clean, well-maintained and welcoming, and meals are generally appetizing with helpful dining assistance. My main issues are small, cramped rooms, limited memory-care activities/social engagement, and the courtyard not being fenced (a safety concern for ambulatory residents). Overall I would recommend Courtyard Manor for its compassionate, professional care.

About Courtyard Manor of Swartz Creek

Courtyard Manor of Swartz Creek sits on a single level and has an open floor plan, so you won't find any stairs or awkward corners, and the exits all stay secured for everyone's safety, which comes in handy, especially for folks who tend to wander or need extra supervision. The buildings, four in total, each hold up to 20 people, with plenty of staff around day and night, and they keep the same workers as much as possible, which makes the place feel steady for the residents, and you can tell the staff really knows each person's routine. There are big courtyards out back with flowers and walking paths if you want to get outside, but you're still within a secure area. They make sure the place is wheelchair accessible, with wide halls, barrier-free spaces, and lots of grab bars, so moving around is pretty smooth for folks who need extra help or use wheelchairs.

Inside, rooms come furnished if you want, at no extra charge, and you've got private bathrooms with walk-in showers, raised toilet seats, and safety bars everywhere, which makes things a bit easier for anyone struggling with mobility. Some rooms are private, others are companion suites, and they're all cable and phone ready so you can bring some creature comforts with you, plus there's free Wi-Fi and lots of cozy common areas with fireplaces and a library, so people often gather for a chat, read, or play games. The staff sets up a bunch of daily activities, things like bingo, exercise groups, gardening, and outings to local events or shopping, while the activity director keeps new programs going so nobody gets too bored. For those who want spiritual support, devotional services happen onsite, along with art classes and brain games.

Courtyard Manor handles all levels of care, from light help to full support, so a person can age in place, whether they only need minor assistance or heavier help with things like bathing, dressing, or reminders to use the bathroom. If someone needs a mechanical lift or extra medical attention, the staff is trained to give that care, and nurses are there around the clock with a doctor on call, plus you can see a podiatrist, dentist, or therapist right in the community. Specialized memory care is set up in its own secured building, made for folks with dementia or Alzheimer's-these residents get things like alarms on their bracelets to prevent wandering, custom care plans, and activities that keep their minds active. They also take residents with behavioral health challenges, like yelling, wandering, anxiety, or difficulty managing aggression, with patient staff who know how to handle tough moments and provide supervision with kindness.

Meals are included, and there's restaurant-style dining, room service, or even anytime dining if someone's hungry outside regular hours, with special diets like gluten-free, low-salt, or low-sugar, and guests can join for a meal sometimes too. Housekeeping, laundry, and grocery shopping are all handled by staff, and they'll help with medication and blood sugar checks for diabetics, although they can't give insulin shots. The facility welcomes pets-both dogs and cats-and even helps with pet care, so you don't have to give up your companions if you move in. For families who need short-term support, respite care is available, and hospice care is also an option for end-of-life needs.

Transportation comes with the package, or you can bring your own car and park onsite, and the grounds are neat, well-kept, and comfortable, so it all feels more like a regular home than an institution. Courtyard Manor of Swartz Creek is known for providing steady, compassionate care, with a focus on dignity, respect, and meeting each person where they're at, and even though nothing is quite perfect, they work hard to make sure everyone feels safe, heard, and looked after every day.
