    Nice facility serious care issues

I toured and stayed short-term and had mixed experiences: the building and remodeled, spacious rooms are lovely, therapy and some caregivers (Kwan, Vanessa, Jade, Wendy and others) were attentive and kind. But care is inconsistent and alarming - understaffed shifts, unresponsive call lights, squalid/restroom issues, persistent urine odor, missed or mishandled meds, rude/unempathetic staff and safety problems (falls, patients left unattended). Management and business office were unhelpful - billing errors, poor communication and even threats around POA - so I don't trust them. Overall: nice facility and some great staff, but I would avoid for long-term care given the serious neglect and lapses I witnessed.

    About Medilodge Of Taylor

Medilodge of Taylor is a skilled nursing and rehab facility located at 23600 Northline Road in Taylor, Michigan, where you'll find services for both short-term recovery and long-term care, and what stands out here is that they've got 142 certified beds, and while it's a bigger place, there are two main sections that you need to go outside to travel between, which sometimes isn't easy for everyone walking around, especially in bad weather, and the rooms are often shared so it's not unusual to find a couple grandparents or more together, using things like plastic mattress covers and air conditioning units. The facility is wheelchair accessible and offers parking and restrooms onsite, and it promises services like assisted living medication management and various types of therapy, so families can expect skilled nursing, physical help, and even speech therapy. People working there-nurses, aides, and therapy folks-are generally friendly and attentive, and nurse staffing hours per resident are actually a bit higher than the state average, showing a stronger focus on care, and nurse turnover is a little less than other places in Michigan.

Medilodge of Taylor does have challenges, and these are plain to see in the public inspection reports, which list 21 deficiencies, including some infection control troubles with past mold problems, urine leaks, and general hygiene concerns; mold has shown up in air conditioning systems, heater vents, and even on windows before. State inspectors also found problems with how they handle food, known in the documents as deficiency F0812, and they've had issues meeting standards for residents' rights, quality of care, and making sure residents eat well and get help with daily living when they can't do things for themselves. The management is run by Generations Healthcare Management LLC and Prestige Administrative Services, LLC, and ownership is with Fifteeninone Opco Group LLC, with the facility being for-profit and part of the wider Medilodge group, including other locations in Michigan like Lansing, Midland, Hillman, and Howell, all carrying unique names.

Medilodge of Taylor tries to focus on comfort and community, and staff work to nurture and watch residents closely for safety, including monitoring those at risk of wandering, and there's a code of ethics, elder justice policy, and guidelines against discrimination of any sort, also a promise to follow all healthcare program laws. Activity staff keep residents busy with cards and other games, rehabilitation aims to restore both mind and body, and management is accessible if any problems come up. The facility states its goal is to help folks recover, regain independence, and go home when possible, but it's clear there have been real struggles with building maintenance and cleanliness that shouldn't be overlooked when considering the place for a loved one. If you're looking for a spot with a community feel and comprehensive services, but want to know what's really going on with inspection results and facility setup, Medilodge of Taylor gives a bit of both-the good and the things you need to check for yourself.
