    Decent rooms, awful management, neglect

I lived here and had a mostly awful experience. Some caregivers were amazing and the meals, my room and recent renovations were decent, but management and the director were often mean and dismissive. I dealt with bed-bug spraying, denied access to doctors and my service dog, threats of eviction/debt, billing disputes, privacy violations, poor care, few activities and high staff turnover - residents looked sad and neglected. Leadership misrepresented the facility. I recommend finding another place.

About Reno Valley Assisted Living & Retirement Center

Reno Valley Assisted Living & Retirement Center is a large memory care and retirement community in Nevada with 188 beds, and what you get here is mostly a secure place for seniors who need memory support, Alzheimer's care, assisted living, or independent living options, so residents will have dedicated help with bathing, dressing, bathroom hygiene, medication management, and things like getting in and out of the shower, and there's always someone around to supervise day or night if that's needed. You've got a choice between semi-private or private rooms, and they're fully furnished with private bathrooms, cable TV, kitchenettes, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi, but there have been repeated problems reported about toilets, sinks, sticky floors, brown substances, laundry debris, dead bugs, and even feces in rooms and common areas, so that's something you want to bear in mind. When it comes to meals, three homemade meals are provided daily with special options for diabetes, high blood pressure, or any dietary restrictions, with restaurant-style dining and snack options, and there's a beauty salon, barbershop, spa and a fitness room on site, plus activity rooms for music, arts, games, and sometimes off-site trips for shopping or to go to medical visits, and social programs like movie nights and community events. Residents can join in on music therapy, pet visits, outdoor garden walks, board games, and scheduled day trips, and there's a reading room, library, and even a computer center, but complaints about infection control, sanitation, and recordkeeping mean oversight hasn't always kept up on every detail, including storing and administering medications properly. The center also runs programs for wellness, exercise, and creative activities, with social gatherings, outdoor community spaces, and transportation if residents need to get to appointments or religious services, but medical reviews and infection problems have led to some state violations in the past, and sometimes medications weren't available on site or locked up right. Staff offer multilingual support, mainly in English, to help with anything from getting dressed to taking medications, and support covers both ambulatory and non-ambulatory needs, and there are options for veterans and for private pay and long-term care insurance, with a base rate for memory care starting at $4,500 a month but costs might go up based on the room and type of help needed. While the environment's supposed to be friendly, welcoming, and maintenance-free-with cleaning, cooking, and upkeeping included, and a recently remodeled TV room right across from Taylor Park-there are persistent problems with cleanliness and following all resident safety rules, so families might want to check and ask about recent improvements or ongoing issues, since not every corner of the facility meets the standards advertised, especially when it comes to infection control, medication safety, and general sanitation in both private and shared areas.
