    Caring staff but needs maintenance

I'm cautiously satisfied. The staff are responsive, caring and proactive with prescriptions - very helpful - and the place is generally nice with a balanced menu, though my sister was disappointed by the food at times. My concerns are cleanliness and upkeep (some areas and residents didn't seem well kept), the facility is small with few activities, so I give it 4/5 but it needs better maintenance and more programming.

About Mesa Arriba Family Care Home

Mesa Arriba Family Care Home has a quiet spot on Buckboard Avenue in Albuquerque where people get care and support when they need some help with daily tasks or memory. The place supports both seniors and family caregivers who need a break, offering respite stays and longer-term options, including assisted living, memory care, and nursing home care, so folks who have Alzheimer's or even Parkinson's have help right there. There are eight units, which include both one-bedroom apartments and small studios, and each room comes with things like pull cords, grab bars, non-slip floors, and good wheelchair access. Residents can have their rooms furnished or bring their own things, and privacy is there as well, with fully private living spaces and shared kitchens, plus cozy living rooms for spending time with friends or family during visits.

Staff are around all day and night, with a licensed nurse supervising health needs and medication, and there's even a registered nurse who does checks with a licensed physician every month, making sure care stays on track. People get help with bathing, dressing, managing medication, even incontinence care and mealtime assistance, and there's always someone to help if a resident needs bathroom reminders, escorting inside the building, or moving between beds and chairs. The team supports residents with kindness, patience, and respect, and tries to create a safe and stable spot where each person feels they're part of a family.

Meals happen in a bright dining room every day, and there's a special dietary menu for folks with restrictions, including choices for diabetes, vegetarian, or kosher diets. Meal prep and all housekeeping, laundry, and apartment upkeep tasks get handled by staff, so life feels easier for those who stay. The activities list stays full, with things like fitness classes, art and crafts, movies, library time, games, and groups for both social and educational get-togethers. Residents join birthday celebrations, special parties, and sometimes outings, because transportation's arranged for doctor's appointments or group trips outside, and escorts are there if anyone needs extra support.

Mesa Arriba Family Care Home has security features like a keyless entry pad and 24-hour monitoring, so everyone feels safe. There are outdoor gardens and backyard spaces for walks or just sitting in the shade, and inside you'll find wide, open common areas, a therapy spot, a reading or computer nook, a chapel, a café area, and a beauty shop. The building has wifi, cable, and phones in every room, plus emergency call or panic buttons in case folks need help right away.

The care model uses monthly assessments to keep things flexible, matching care to changing needs, and services include agency home health under a state license, covering high-acuity and non-ambulatory care for people who need the most support. Families can visit for longer hours, and staff encourage regular involvement, making it feel like a real home away from home. The main focus stays on respect, dignity, stability, and companionship, supporting seniors with whatever's needed, from shower assistance to memory programs, so daily life stays steady and reassuring for everyone.
