    Resort-style amenities, caring staff, pricey

I live here and overall I'm very happy: the staff are warm, attentive and go above and beyond, the buildings and grounds are spotless and modern, and the amenities - pool, great fitness/therapy programs, movie theatre and nonstop activities - make it feel resort-like. The dining is generally very good with a skilled chef, but menu variety, food temperature and limited weekend meals can be frustrating. Apartments are often smaller than expected, it's independent living only (no certified memory/assisted care), and costs/extra fees are high; communication and some staffing inconsistencies have caused problems. Despite that, I feel safe, well cared for, and would recommend it for active seniors who can afford the price.

    About Cambridge Village of Apex

Cambridge Village of Apex sits in a quiet part of Apex, North Carolina where folks find a friendly, relaxed place to live with help if they need it, and you can tell there's a focus on staying active and connected. The community offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care, as well as home care, nursing, rehab, and respite care, so residents can get more care if health needs change, and no one has to move out if they want to age in place. There's a big clubhouse, a private lake with a walking path and a fountain, and a 28,000 square foot community center where people can visit, play games, or join clubs, and there's a fitness center that has group classes, new weight machines, yoga, and aqua exercise in a warm indoor pool, with a hot tub, steam room, and even a coffee and smoothie bar so people can spend their mornings however they like.

The apartments run from studio up to two-bedroom, with more than ten floor plan choices, so people pick what feels right, and all apartments come with full kitchens, washers and dryers, walk-in closets, emergency response systems, and extra storage, with patios or balconies for those who like a little fresh air. Utilities, housekeeping, and meals are included, and the rent works month to month with no big buy-in, which keeps things simple. Every unit also has cable TV, the internet, and its own thermostat, and the staff takes care of repairs and cleaning each week, so folks can focus on their day.

You can bring your pet if you want, which makes it easier for animal lovers, and guests can stay in extra suites when they visit. There's a Cambridge Café open on weekdays and a restaurant-style dining room serving three daily meals, cooked by a chef, with flexible meal choices, so people find something they like. At any time you can join in with social activities, outings, and educational programs, since there are daily schedules with things like gardening, field trips, dance parties, movies, and art, and the Garden Club meets for folks who enjoy planting things. There's a theater, a library, spa with massage and salon, a fire pit, outdoor spaces for gathering, and devotional services too, for people with spiritual needs.

Support comes in different ways, so if someone needs help with things like bathing, dressing, or taking medicine, staff can assist, and therapists visit for speech, physical, and occupational needs. A doctor is on call, homecare is available, and there's always concierge care staff ready to help with appointments, questions, or emergencies, since safety is a priority. Memory care is set up to help with dementia and Alzheimer's, focused on simple routines and safe spaces so people don't get confused or wander, and the environment feels calm and cozy with staff who slow down and listen.

People here get scheduled rides around town for errands, medical visits, or local outings, and there's guest parking for family and friends. Residents focus on staying well because of a strong Optimal Living® program, which covers fitness, learning, and social wellness, with personalized fitness coaching and educational health talks led by professionals. The grounds feel peaceful, with green gardens, places for fishing, sitting bridges, and walking paths for those who enjoy time outside. Altogether, the community feels warm, supportive, and steady, giving residents comfort, social connection, and a sense of independence as they age.
