    Compassionate staff but serious issues

I placed my mom at Woodland Hills and I'm grateful for the compassionate, attentive nurses, CNAs and therapy staff (Amber Hurley, Natasha Bradford, Cynthia and Chloe were exceptional) - the facility is clean, home-like, and offers good activities. However, I experienced poor communication, phone/contact issues, delayed or missed medications and slow call-button responses, plus worrying safety/financial problems (unsecured doors, stolen money/card info). Overall I appreciate the caring staff but recommend anyone considering Woodland Hills monitor meds, security and finances closely and insist on timely updates from management.

About Asheboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center

Asheboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center sits in Asheboro, North Carolina, and serves seniors needing both short-term rehab and long-term care in a place that's got 100 certified skilled nursing beds and keeps an average of about 93 residents a day, which means most of their rooms usually have someone in them, and the place belongs fully to Asheboro Holdco LLC, run as a for-profit facility, and is tied with Yad Healthcare. Mark Johnson acts as the administrator, and the staff aims to deliver care that feels compassionate and professional at any hour, trying to build a healthy and happy home for the residents who come from different walks of life. The nurse turnover rate is 56.3%, and the staffing level sits at 3.12 nurse hours per resident per day, with a team that includes licensed professionals who focus on regular reviews and gradual adjustments to medicines, especially when it comes to psychotropic drugs, which the facility only gives as needed while encouraging non-drug strategies first.

Asheboro offers a full range of therapies like physical, occupational, and speech sessions five days a week, working on improving each patient's mobility and independence, and they have a keen focus on pain management and dysphagia care, which is all about helping folks with swallowing problems. People recovering from surgery or illness will find a sub-acute unit meant to lower the chances of going back to the hospital or picking up infections, and the place serves those who need cancer care from start to finish, plus memory care for those facing Alzheimer's, advanced memory loss, or dementia, and those needing expert cardiac and orthopedic rehab will meet with attending physicians and seasoned staff working with the latest technologies. The pain management program works closely with patients and doctors to find what helps most, and hospice and palliative care are also available so patients and families can face serious illnesses with dignity and support.

Care plans come from assessments done within seven days, made by a group of health professionals, and these plans get checked and changed regularly to fit each resident's changing needs, which includes drug regimen reviews every month by a licensed pharmacist, plus clear rules and procedures for handling and reporting anything unusual. The facility describes itself as clean, and the community strives to keep the place welcoming, aiming to help everyone feel at home, while offering daily POPS appreciation programs for Yad Healthcare employees and support systems like flexible "no-frills" nursing programs, enhanced wage scales, 401K retirement plans, and health, vision, and dental benefits, so workers can build skills and grow their careers while delivering steady care. The overall goal is to help residents get stronger in body, mind, and social connections, letting them live with as much independence as possible, which means they get a mix of therapies, daily activities, and amenities focused on both comfort and recovery, all in a setting described by many as clean and family-like, though it's fair to point out that centers like this always have room for changes or improvement, depending on what a person needs or expects.
