    Calming attentive homelike memory care

I moved my mom here after a terrible experience elsewhere and it's been night-and-day. The small, six-resident, home-like houses with private rooms and spotless, sunny common spaces feel safe and welcoming; staff are incredibly caring, attentive, and experienced in memory care with excellent caregiver/nurse ratios. Mom is eating home-cooked meals, more engaged and calmer, and our family's stress and sleepless nights are gone - the communication and personalized care give us real peace of mind. I couldn't recommend them more.

    About The Sanctuary at Stonehaven

The Sanctuary at Stonehaven sits in a quiet neighborhood and doesn't look much different from any regular house you'd pass by, being a single-story building with a small number of residents-no more than six people live here at a time, so you can see how the caregivers can really get to know everybody, and they always have a high caregiver-to-resident ratio, never more than three people for every caregiver, and often one-on-one help, which lets them spot when something's not right or when anyone needs a bit of extra encouragement, and the care team includes Physicians, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Med Techs, Certified Nursing Assistants, an Activity Director, and a Chef, all going through background checks and continuing training, and always around because the care is 24/7 here, even through the night, so people don't get left alone if they need help with things like bathing, dressing, grooming, medication management, or moving from bed to chair. The place feels homelike, with common rooms that have leather recliners, a fireplace, spaces for music, and dining tables where three home-cooked meals are served each day, plus snacks and drinks, and the whole menu rotates and is overseen by a Registered Dietician, so meals don't repeat within the month and get changed for dietary needs, and there's always something hearty to eat. Residents have private bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms with their own TVs, and all the rooms are set up to be wheelchair and walker accessible, with transfer-friendly beds, comfort height toilets, slip-resistant floors, roll-in showers, and grab bars, with level floors so it's easy for folks to get around, and there's also alarmed entries, visual cues, lighting to help with sundowning, and an emergency response system-everyone gets a wireless necklace and a bedside call button so help's always just a press away. Staff does daily housekeeping, linen changes, laundry, and even helps with arranging dry cleaning if needed, and they'll handle medication delivery, blood sugar checks, insulin, and other diabetic care, as well as get doctors and nurses in for monthly wellness visits and review medications with pharmacists every quarter. Stonehaven prides itself on activities for both mind and body, with gardening, animal therapy, art and crafts, yoga, group exercise, and music therapy, plus salon services in the in-house hair salon and a nice outdoor deck and backyard, all fenced and private, with plush seating and big lawns shaded by mature trees. The home is set up with safety and comfort in mind, especially for those living with dementia or memory troubles, including secure entrances, lighting that helps with confusion, and signs to guide where you're going, and the staff gets picked by the owners-who are a family-so they keep the atmosphere warm, keep communication open with families, and pay special attention to routines that help people feel calm and stable. The facility arranges transportation to appointments, coordinates with outside health providers, and handles all the basic utilities, cable, phone, and internet in the cost, making things that much easier, and because there aren't a lot of residents, each person gets their own say in daily routines and plenty of time with caregivers who know their needs and habits, promoting better health outcomes and dignity, and making it feel like living in a big family home where not much gets missed.
