    Clean caring staff; inconsistent communication

I moved my mother in and overall I'm grateful: the facility is very clean, the staff are warm, caring and knowledgeable, and there are plenty of activities, outings, on-site medical support and nice grounds. My complaints are real - communication and staffing can be inconsistent (we experienced missed meds and slow callbacks), care-level billing was higher than expected and promised reductions weren't always applied, and room size/food quality vary. If you want compassionate, safe care and an active community, this is a solid option-just confirm costs, nursing procedures and staffing during your tour.

About Carriage House Senior Living Community

Carriage House Senior Living Community stands in a downtown area and offers different levels of elder care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and short-term respite care, so as needs change, residents don't have to move away, and you'll find folks with all kinds of backgrounds coming together here from Greensboro. This place has a colonial-style exterior with a big front porch and well-kept grounds, while the inside features home-like spaces such as comfortable common rooms with big windows, cozy fireplaces, and dining rooms set with fresh flowers. The community has studio apartments with wood-style floors, good natural light, storage space, and private baths-some even have full tubs and walk-in showers for folks who need them-plus emergency call response systems and phone connections in every room.

Around Carriage House, you'll find a library, game rooms, gardens, a courtyard full of blooming plants and bird feeders, and walking paths for residents who like some fresh air, and animals are allowed, so cats and dogs can live right alongside their owners. There's a full-time activity director who plans things like music therapy, arts and crafts, stretching, wine tasting, and weekly outings in Greensboro, plus patio socials, bingo, and devotional services, because social engagement is important for everyone who lives here. There are outdoor spots with a pergola, sunroom, or a screened porch where folks can relax, watch the seasons change, or just visit with relatives, and inside, you'll find Wi-Fi and plenty of reading nooks.

You've got staff onsite day and night, including registered nurses and licensed practical nurses, along with people who help with medication reminders, bathing, grooming, and other daily needs; medical staff are available for monitoring things like blood sugar, incontinence care, and even administering insulin. There are visiting therapists-podiatrists, physical, occupational, and speech therapists-who help residents keep their mobility and independence, and there's also home health and hospice services for residents who need them. Specialized memory care features a secure building with outdoor patios, natural light everywhere possible, clear exit security, technology like safety bracelets for those who wander, and a program designed for folks facing Alzheimer's or dementia, even handling behavior challenges, so memory care residents are kept safe and supported.

Meals are served three times a day in restaurant-style dining rooms, and the kitchen is able to handle special diets, whether someone needs gluten-free, low sodium, low sugar, or vegan meals. The community offers transportation services, a beauty salon, social rooms, a fitness center, and adult day care. Security is a priority, with wandering protection, supervision, standby and assisted transfers, and mechanical lifts if necessary, plus different levels of care ranging from light to heavy. Housekeeping services and regular maintenance are provided, so living here means residents can focus on things that matter to them, not chores.

Carriage House Senior Living Community has received recognition through the "Best of Senior Living" award and the "All-Star" Award for positive reviews from residents and their families, who mention things like the helpfulness of the staff and the friendly, welcoming feeling. Programs like Five Star's LifeStyle360 aim to encourage wellness, independence, and learning, while the full offerings of independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, respite care, and rehabilitation services on one campus let seniors stay put as their needs grow. The focus remains on offering practical help and safety while providing a calm, neighborly home, and the main thing is that it truly feels like a community for seniors, whether they need a little help or a lot, or even if they just want to stay active and make new friends.
