    Clean active community but understaffed

I live here in a brand-new, very clean, one-level assisted living (with an Alzheimer's wing) and the transition was smooth. Staff are friendly, devoted, and accessible - the executive director checks in, families get regular updates, and a buddy system helps newcomers. The place is active (morning exercise, family nights, holiday parties, new events), the recreational and dining rooms look nice, and daily menus/snacks are posted. That said, rooms are small, the dining room feels cramped, the layout can be confusing, and there's no space for a true movie night. Food quality is minimal despite the fancy china, and recreation can be thin on weekends. Care is adequate and residents are well looked after, but high turnover, CNA shortages and understaffing (and some promised services not delivered) make it an expensive choice.

    About Carillon Assisted Living

Carillon Assisted Living, also called Carillon Senior Living, sits at 4901 Waters Edge Dr #200 in Raleigh, North Carolina, and offers a wide variety of senior care options all in one place, so seniors can find assisted living, independent living, memory care, and full nursing home services without needing to move between facilities, and the staff there, made up of longtime nurses and caregivers, really gets to know each resident's needs and daily habits, helping with activities like dressing, bathing, and eating, and there's even a tradition where caregivers bake cakes for birthdays, which gives the place a personal and home-like feeling. Ann Marie, who runs the facility, keeps in close touch with families and offers good advice about care, while the whole team tries to create a safe, familiar environment with help for memory issues like Alzheimer's, and activities that suit different interests, from arts and crafts to wellness classes or social games in common rooms, where residents can join in if they like. There are features that make life easier-such as grab bars, kitchens or kitchenettes in some rooms, washers and dryers, options for studio, private, or shared spaces, plus safety features like sprinkler systems and accessible layouts, and the place stays clean and well-kept. On-site services include physical therapy, aquatic therapy, behavioral care, a dedicated Vent Facility, respiratory care, and support for disabled persons or those with Parkinson's, with medical help like nurses, medication support, wound care, and podiatry visits on site. Residents can get help with laundry, housekeeping, transportation, and personal care, while home health and hospice options are available too, along with short-term or respite stays for those who need just a little extra time to recover or want to give caregivers a break. Meals are made for residents, and there's a dining room for gathering, plus a fitness center, salon, and spaces for games or social visits, and if a resident wants to stay active or pursue a hobby, there are structured programs meant to promote health, happiness, and independence, with a nursing staff who tends to stay for years, building trust and stability. Carillon Assisted Living is locally owned, continues to focus on clear communication, and tries to give each elder a warm, family-like environment, with lots of options to match different care needs as people age, and while there are amenities like cable TV, Wi-Fi, and guest parking typical of a comfortable home, the main thing is that the staff is trained, friendly, tuned in, and ready to adjust care for each individual, so seniors in the Raleigh area can receive long-term, short-term, or specialized care without having to give up their routines or sense of home.
