    Compassionate staff but poor management

I'm torn: the direct-care staff are genuinely caring, attentive and often amazing, the facility is comfortable, clean in many areas, and conveniently located, but administration's communication is poor and unresponsive, complaints (including rudeness from Jacqueline Wilson) are ignored, staffing is inconsistent, baths and laundry are irregular, there are persistent urine/cleanliness issues and reports of sores/theft. I would only recommend this place conditionally - fine for some short-term or lower-acuity needs, but I would not trust it for advanced memory care or long-term placement without clear staffing and management improvements.

About Wake Assisted Living Memory Care

Wake Assisted Living Memory Care serves people who have memory loss, like Alzheimer's or dementia, by focusing on safety, daily routines, and comfort in a home-like setting, where trained staff help with everyday needs such as meals, bathing, mobility, and medication management, and the caregivers, including Certified Nursing Assistants and Medication Aides, stay on-site 24 hours a day so someone can help any time if needed because wandering is a risk with these kinds of memory problems, and the building stays secure with locked doors and alarm bracelets to keep residents from getting lost or hurt, and they've got specific safety features like wheelchair accessible showers, full tubs, and wide indoor and outdoor areas so everyone can move around easily, and they really pay attention to residents' changing needs with flexible care plans and can help with things like giving insulin or handling difficult behaviors, and the community works to keep residents busy with activities like art classes, cooking, trivia, karaoke, and even outings, plus there's special encouragement from an Activity Director who plans things that match what each person likes to do and what they can still enjoy, and people can visit or take a tour during normal business hours to see what daily life looks like, how meals get served, and how staff work to create a positive and compassionate environment, and for folks who have problems with incontinence, need help moving from bed to chair, or are at risk for wandering, staff use lifts and other equipment and give as much help as needed, and there are special diets, guest meals, beautician services, devotional services, laundry, and transportation to doctors or activities in the area, plus regular check-ups with nurses, podiatrists, dentists, and therapists, and the secured memory care wing sits in its own building, designed for people in early to middle stages of memory loss, with attention paid to safety and routine, and they've even got a 3.5-star rating with reviews showing a mixed but generally positive experience from families, and though the exact age for entrance isn't clear, there's a minimum age requirement, and the average cost for a semi-private room runs around $5,500, with support for aging in place so people can stay in the community as their needs grow, and the goal remains to provide residents with dignity, respect, and a calm atmosphere, while making sure medical and physical support services are available all the time.
