    Loving staff, excellent private rooms

I'm very pleased with this lovely, transparent home - the staff are genuinely loving and provide first-rate care. The director leads with a servant's heart, the board pushes high standards, every resident has a private room, and a park/playground is being planned; truly one of the best facilities I've seen.

    About TLC Home Inc

TLC Home Inc sits at 1775 Hawkins Ave in Sanford, North Carolina, and has looked after folks with mental and physical handicaps since 1982, though it formally opened its business file in 2005, and it's one of those places that really seems focused on making a real home for up to 10 people who might need a bit more help in daily life, and what's nice about the place is it's been set up with a comfortable, homelike feeling, so people living there can feel safe and supported while still having their own space and dignity. It's classified as a healthcare facility, specifically as an Intermediate Care Facility, and it's a 501(c)(3) charitable group with a board of directors handling oversight, no big national chains or extra ties, and as of June 2024, about 40 staff members work there including personal care assistants, nurses, a psychologist, a dietitian, and therapists for different needs, so there's usually always someone around to lend a hand whether residents need help walking, bathing, dressing, or eating.

The building's got all the usual features you'd expect like washers, dryers, a sprinkler system, and cable TV, plus some extras like a games room, fitness center, salon and barbershop, guest parking, and even WiFi, which can be important for folks who like to keep in touch with family or watch a favorite show, and staff keep up with things like housekeeping, maintenance, and making sure safety features work for wheelchairs or walkers. Meals are planned to be nutritious, served in the dining room or in kitchens/kitchenettes for those who want to help with their own meals, and there's also daily housekeeping so the place stays tidy and comfortable. TLC's care covers medical needs like wound care, medication support, podiatry visits, occupational, speech, and physical therapy, and the team arranges transportation when residents need to go to the doctor or out and about, since outings and community trips are a regular thing for folks who want fresh air or a change of scenery.

Programs at TLC include an adult day program, social activities, educational offerings, health and wellness events, arts and crafts like painting, and other ways for residents to stay involved and engaged as they like. The place's main aim is to take care of both physical and mental needs, so staff look after behavioral health too, and there are always plans in place to match what each person needs most, rather than a one-size-fits-all kind of routine. TLC Home Inc. is registered as an organization for mental health services, with annual tax filings handled by an outside accounting firm, and the financials, as of the last report, showed $1.8 million in revenue, $1.6 million in expenses, and roughly $1.76 million in assets including land and buildings, all with about $210,000 in liabilities. The building has specific safety and accessibility features for people with disabilities and offers insurance options like long-term care. The organization isn't tied to the Better Business Bureau as an accredited business, though it's got an A+ BBB rating, and Ms. Rita Oglesbee currently serves as Executive Director. Overall, TLC Home Inc tries to provide a stable, safe, and welcoming option for people with significant needs who want to be part of a smaller, community-focused group home, and there are plenty of options for support, recreation, and daily living, together with a focus on kindness and respect.
