    Bright building, great rehab, unsafe

I'm grateful many therapists, rehab staff, nurses and aides were caring and professional - the building is bright and rehab is excellent. But I also experienced chronic understaffing, poor management/physician communication, medication and billing problems, and intermittent unsanitary conditions and pests with strong odors. Nights/weekends felt especially risky: slow responses, rough handling, falls and a decline that felt neglected. I would only consider this facility if I could visit often and closely oversee care.

    About Hillside Nursing & Rehab

Hillside Nursing & Rehab sits in Wake Forest, North Carolina, as a single-story, family-owned place where you'll find a warm, calming setting that feels more homey than most facilities, and you see, they do assisted living, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation all under one roof, so folks can get the kind of care they need, whether it's long-term, short-term, or just a helping hand with daily tasks. The staff stays around the clock, giving care, supervision, and support, and they have both in-patient and out-patient therapy-covering physical, occupational, and speech therapy-so recovery can stay on track whether someone's healing at Hillside or coming in from home. Private rooms make things a little quieter, and meals are planned by a registered dietitian, so people get good, proper food, and there's a steady routine of activities, exercises, and programs to help residents stay active, keep their minds sharp, and enjoy something each day, even if they're living with illness or working on recovery after surgery.

There's nursing staff plus physician services from Hillside's Medical Directors, making sure everyone's care plan fits their needs, and you do see a focus on individualized care, which matters when people want to feel seen and not lost in the shuffle. Hillside is known for paying careful attention to each resident, even when preparing folks for prostheses, and they're often recognized for standards above those of other top-rated places. Now, amenities include dining, beauty services, transportation, and all sorts of recreational and exercise options, so residents get choices and can fill their days how they like. The place tends to daily needs, like bathing, dressing, and medication reminders, while keeping things friendly. Reviews have averaged around 3.1 out of 5, with 10 people sharing their thoughts, and the price for services is reported at about $3,000, though public pricing isn't published.

With open doors 24 hours a day, but office hours from 8:30 in the morning to 5 in the evening during the week and daily hours running from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., staff keeps things running with care and dedication. Hillside delivers long-term geriatric care, short-term nursing, and various skilled services, with a special effort to keep everything personalized, family-like, and rooted in kindness. The place gets a "Very Good" nursing home rating of 3 stars, and it stands out as a steady choice for those looking for a comforting environment with comprehensive healthcare and support designed for everyday life as well as times of illness or recovery, and, like always, the details do matter when choosing where to live or heal.
