    Caring staff, administrative communication issues

I experienced a real mix: the staff are compassionate, knowledgeable, and family-oriented, the facility is clean and home-like with good food, activities, and often strong rehab - management and many nurses/aides clearly care. But communication and administration were weak: delays getting doctors, unclear specialist follow-ups, scheduling and billing problems, maintenance delays, and occasional neglectful lapses (trays left, residents not fed, missed clinical concerns). It's a comforting place for hands-on care and social needs, but I'd advise close family advocacy and careful review of bills and medical oversight for anyone with complex needs.

About Saybrook Landing Health and Rehabilitation

Saybrook Landing Health and Rehabilitation sits in Saybrook-on-the-Lake, Ohio, and offers skilled nursing care, therapy services, and long-term stays in a friendly and homelike setting, and you'll notice right away that they have 100 Medicare and Medicaid certified beds, so whether someone's there for a short recovery or needs longer support, the trained teams made up of experienced nurses, registered nurses, therapists, and dietitians provide care around the clock, always on hand to help with daily needs, medications, and more complex conditions. The rooms feel large and private, giving every resident a suite with WiFi, cable TV, a phone, and simple comforts, and they've really thought about the small things, too, like including fine dining, regular housekeeping, fresh linens, and helping residents keep as much independence and routine as they want. There's a real focus on person-centered care at Saybrook Landing, and the staff takes time to know each resident, encouraging them to maintain old habits, join in on community activities, and stay connected with church, games, or family events, so nobody feels left out.

The health services cover a lot, and that includes a Chronic Pulmonary Care Unit, a Respiratory Unit, and an on-site hemodialysis program, with dedicated care teams for things like COPD, pneumonia, emphysema, and recovery after illnesses like COVID-there's even special ventilator care in private suites, with trained respiratory therapists available at all hours. The therapists at Saybrook Landing regularly provide physical, occupational, and speech therapies-including important treatment for swallowing and communication problems-and work with residents seven days a week to help everyone regain skills, strength, and confidence as they recover, and they always look for ways to remove barriers that get in the way of daily living or independent movement. Saybrook Landing keeps up on modern care, using state-of-the-art wound care technology and adjusting programs and amenities for better comfort and recovery, and has been nationally accredited for its commitment to quality service.

There are options for memory care, respite care, palliative care, and hospice available, so families can find help for many situations; whether someone needs a secure place for specialized memory care or a bit of extra support after a hospital stay, the staff stays committed to compassionate service and holistic well-being. Residents have a voice through the council, which helps shape daily life and keeps a sense of community strong, and there's open encouragement for everyone to be involved, stay active, and keep up with the things that matter most to them. The people at Saybrook Landing pride themselves on being experienced and passionate, and while it's a busy place with lots of activity, the staff always seem to bring a loving touch to daily care-and that gives the place its warm and steady atmosphere.
