    Warm compassionate staff, excellent care

I placed my mom at Abbington and was very pleased - the staff are warm, compassionate, and treat residents like family, with 24-hour aides/nursing, excellent PT/OT, and proactive leadership. The community is clean and homey (sunroom, library, porches), offers lots of activities and outings, great meals (meatloaf standout), smooth move-in, and Medicaid is accepted. There have been occasional weekend/communication hiccups and temperature issues, but overall I would choose Abbington again.

    About Abbington of Arlington

Abbington of Arlington is a single-story senior living community with 44 apartment-style rooms, offering both assisted living and memory care. Residents find caring and fully trained staff who are available 24 hours a day and help with daily needs like meals, bathing, dressing, medication management, and mobility, which is nice because you don't have to worry about stairs or elevators since everything's on one floor. The community has private suites, some with kitchenettes, walk-in showers, individual thermostats, wide doors for wheelchair access, and private bathrooms that are easy for people with mobility issues. There's an emergency pull cord system and safety features like smoke detectors, fire alarms, sprinklers, and an emergency call system in every suite and bathroom, which makes the whole building safer, and you even get all utilities included with local phone and cable TV service.

The staff helps with laundry, housekeeping, and personal care and even has a Medication Administration Program, so licensed nurses and trained caregivers handle things like medication reminders, pharmacy delivery, and diabetic care. There's support for people who need physical, occupational, or speech therapy, as well as on-site visits from nurse practitioners, physicians, and podiatrists. Residents can also get fall and risk checks, blood pressure and weight checks, mobile lab and X-ray services, and help with oxygen or medical equipment if they need it. For people with memory loss, like Alzheimer's or other types of dementia, the community offers memory care services meant to reduce confusion and keep residents safe from wandering.

Abbington of Arlington has a family atmosphere and has been known to keep the place clean, bright, and open. Residents have access to areas like spacious parlors with fireplaces, screened-in porches, a cozy family kitchen, elegant dining room, an arts and crafts room, a game room, library, TV lounge, and a big community room for gatherings, and there's even an atrium with skylights and lots of comfortable spots for social activities. There are walking paths, an interior courtyard, outside enclosed courtyard, and places to gather for birthdays or holidays, and there's a pet-friendly policy for people who want to bring their animal companion. Structured programs help residents meet new friends and join social, recreational, and educational activities every week, and meals are served three times a day in the dining room, plus snacks, and special diets when needed-even something simple like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich if that's what someone wants.

Transportation services are available for trips to medical appointments, stores, or community events. Every resident can expect housekeeping, linen, and personal laundry services to be included, and Wi-Fi is available so people can use the internet. The place is well equipped for people with handicaps, with accessible suites, easy access everywhere, and wide doors for wheelchairs. The facility keeps things simple with an all-inclusive monthly rate that covers meals, care, housekeeping, amenities, and other services, and the executive director is described as caring and attentive. Residents can enjoy life enrichment programs, health talks, and many chances to take part in day-to-day activities that make the community feel a bit like family, and the friendly staff treat everyone with respect and genuine care.
