Hawthorne Commons sits in Dublin, Ohio, and serves adults aged 55 and older who want both independence and support when they need it, offering maintenance-free living in single-story luxury apartments that all come with their own private entrances and attached garages for either one or two cars, and people living there will find a variety of floor plans, so some have walk-in closets, some have private patios or decks, half-baths, and easy trash disposal, plus every home is designed with features for easy accessibility like universal design so moving around with walkers or wheelchairs isn't a problem. The place has nice green spaces, a community garden, and a pond, great for strolling or just sitting to enjoy the outdoors. Hawthorne Commons makes room for pets in the apartments and for people who still drive, there's easy access with attached garages, but for those who don't, there's a transportation service to help them get to appointments and events. The facility also has a wide range of activities and programs through its Enrichment Center, covering social, educational, cultural, and fitness interests, with things like yoga classes that look out over the gardens, cards clubs, fitness clubs with all the equipment someone might use, a business center with computers, and plenty of community spaces like a big clubhouse for meetings, private parties with a catering kitchen, and casual places to relax by a fireplace with friends. Hawthorne Commons uses its own names for many of its services, so people will notice a few unique terms around the place, and the facility has a 24/7 concierge service that's there for things like travel planning, dinner reservations, and personal shopping. People can use the resident portal for paying rent, scheduling maintenance (which is available 24 hours a day), signing up for community activities, or reserving spaces for gatherings. Dining options exist, but the community does not serve daily meals or provide regular healthcare, focusing instead on independent and assisted living, with support services that can include memory care for those who need it, nutrition services, and in-home care plus help for caregivers who are supporting loved ones. Residents can socialize at the WiFi café with coffee bar and liquor lockers, visit the fire pit space outside, relax in private outdoor seating areas, or enjoy nearby walking paths, bike trails, and parks like Campden Lakes, Emerald Fields, and the Scioto River, with notable art nearby through the Dublin Arts Council and Art in Public Places. The community keeps things secure and friendly with 24-hour staff support, and follows guidelines as a Housing for Older Persons Act (HOPA) compliant facility, requiring that at least 80% of residents are 55 years or older. Living at Hawthorne Commons can suit people who want privacy, easy maintenance, space to be active, special kinds of care, and a place with lots to do, yet without the pushy atmosphere of constant staff oversight, making it fit for someone looking for a middle ground between total independence and having a little support when it counts.

Welcoming safe well-maintained community living
I toured Hawthorne and knew it was the right place. It's a welcoming, safe, well-constructed community with excellent staff, well-maintained facilities, lots of activities and very active residents - real community spirit. Rooms are spacious and many have attached garages; note one-bed units lack a bathtub (two-bedrooms have tubs and are more common). Some construction is still ongoing and there's a waiting list. It isn't inexpensive, but for independence, safety and the lifestyle it's worth the investment - I highly recommend it.
