Sanctuary Senior Living Of Newark sits in a friendly community and offers a lot of options for seniors depending on what kind of help they need, so if someone wants to stay active, there are independent living choices, and for those who want some help with daily things like bathing or taking their medicine, the assisted living staff provides support, while people with dementia or Alzheimer's get memory care in a safe environment that tries to keep them from getting lost or confused, and if someone has greater medical needs, the nursing home services are there too. The place includes named communities like Plaza Garden Apartments, Washington Square Apartments, Courtyard at Newark, Sharon Glyn, Hearth Brook, SharonBrooke Assisted Living, Northtowne Senior Living, Crystal Lake, and Mitchell Bill E Retirement, each with its own setup and feel, but run together with the others under the direction of Ms. Natalie Chadwell, Director of Property Management, and there's no BBB accreditation here. The community keeps a full-time activity director on staff, who puts together things like arts and crafts, social clubs, games, health and exercise classes, outings, and even devotional activities, so people can find things to do, and there are pets like dogs and cats around for those who want the comfort of animals. The folks living here can use shared spaces like a dining room, activity rooms, fitness center, beauty salon, and common areas, and the apartments come with everyday things like kitchens or kitchenettes, washers and dryers, cable TV, and housekeeping, which makes life less stressful for many. Meals get made with care for nutrition, and there's a Meals on Wheels program for homebound folks, plus help with chores like laundry, dusting, or sweeping, so even people who want to stay in their apartment get support. Transportation's available for trips and appointments, and safety features like handicap accessibility and sprinkler systems are in place. Health needs get handled with services such as wound care, medication help, nurses, and even podiatry, and there's help for incontinence, diabetes care, and supporting residents who can't walk on their own, and personal aides are around to help with dressing, grooming, and bathing as needed. The Licking County Aging Program brings added services and helps families sort out the differences between assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing, plus there are health screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, and hearing. There's a connect feature to book meetings and learn more, and caregivers can read tips on the Olera platform to understand the care options and what to look for. Folks here can join in on social, educational, or wellness things, whether they like to stay in or go out, and the property has parking for guests and WiFi for keeping in touch. Sanctuary Senior Living Of Newark doesn't make any big promises but does try to provide honest support and care for seniors across many types of needs and living arrangements.

Caring staff, small dated units
I live here and overall I'm satisfied. The staff and proactive manager are wonderful and attentive (they took great care of me after a fall), and community events make it feel safe and friendly. The cozy two-bed/one-bath apartments are very clean but small and a bit dated; maintenance can be lackluster though problems are usually resolved. Rent feels high-ask about pricing and Section 8-and check the pet policy if you have small dogs or a cat. Note there have been reports of discrimination/evictions of disabled or long-term residents, so ask about that up front.
