    Caring staff, issues need fixing

I've seen phenomenal, caring staff who are welcoming, learn residents' names, give personal and end-of-life attention, and work in a facility with strong quality measures and community involvement. That said, I've also experienced poor communication, unresponsive call lights, long waits, a cleanliness problem, and some unprofessional/rude staff that need retraining - I overall recommend the place, but with reservations until those issues are fixed.

    About Piketon Nursing Center

Piketon Nursing Center, which opened in 1960 and is part of Consulate Health Care, sits in Piketon, Ohio, as a 51-bed skilled nursing center where people find long-term and short-term care. The nursing center offers a simple, home-like environment with both private and semi-private rooms, including places for couples. Nurses, doctors, social workers, and nutritionists work around the clock to help residents with medical needs and daily activities like bathing and dressing, plus specialized care for diabetes, heart and lung problems, Alzheimer's, and dementia. The staff helps people who need help temporarily, such as after surgery or when family needs a break, and provides both palliative and hospice care. Piketon Nursing Center lets folks join in group events like card games, karaoke, outdoor festivals, holiday parties, arts and crafts, movies, music, pet therapy, gardening, and special visits from performers. The community has activity rooms for spending time together and a garden and patio for enjoying fresh air. Residents also use the onsite rehab gym for physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and a beauty and barber shop for grooming. Care plans are made to fit each person, and the nursing home is Medicare- and Medicaid-certified, focusing on making life comfortable and safe, with 24-hour skilled nursing always available, lots of planned activities, and even pastoral support for those who want it. The facility tries to keep things supportive and homelike, with both private and shared rooms, and offers ways for people to stay active and connected with family, including outdoor events right in the yard.
