    Mixed care; denied service dog

I had mixed experiences. Staff I dealt with were often helpful, informative and supportive (Rachel was great), the place was clean with reasonable rates, meals, laundry and some activities - but the community felt understaffed, rooms and the dining area are small, activities and deliveries were inconsistent, and corporate/staff could be rude and unprofessional. My application was denied and my service dog was not accommodated, which felt like an ADA/Fair Housing issue. I wouldn't recommend it as a permanent assisted-living option.

    About Alpine House of Ravenna

Alpine House of Ravenna sits at 7000 OH-88 in Ravenna, Ohio, and focuses on assisted living for seniors who want to stay independent but need help with daily tasks, and with only 36 beds, folks find it smaller than some places, so things often feel close-knit and familiar, and residents can choose from large one-bedroom or studio suites, each with private bathrooms, tubs or wheelchair-friendly showers, ADA height toilets, a mini-fridge, microwave, and plenty of closet space, so moving in feels a bit more comfortable and manageable, plus there are safety features throughout like grab rails, three call lights in every suite, video monitoring, a fire sprinkler system, and coded entry, which families appreciate for peace of mind, and for those needing more support, there's 24-hour supervision and a nurse on call all day and night, with on-site healthcare for medication help, diabetic care, memory care services, and even home health therapies like physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Meals are made with care and include vegetarian options, served in a large dining room where snacks are always available if someone gets hungry between meal times, and the staff handles bed making, housekeeping, laundry, and even arranging appointments or transportation, so daily chores become a lot less of a worry, and if getting out isn't easy, there's a salon, fitness room, library, computer area, and walking paths right on the grounds, with lovely gardens and areas for social visits or quiet reflection, and the community keeps things lively with activities like arts and crafts, movies, musical programs, daily scheduled events, and outings, with religious services and reminiscence groups for those who find comfort there, and the staff offers help with dressing, bathing, and night needs, plus massage therapy and counseling are available for well-rounded support.

Memory care residents get special attention, with three scheduled, supervised activities each day, extra staff on hand, and programs structured to help maintain routines, and everyone benefits from regular health assessments to make sure needs are met, with visiting healthcare professionals and telehealth services available when travel's a challenge, and families sometimes comment they like being able to choose between private or companion suites for their loved one, as it gives flexibility both in cost and company.

Alpine House offers parking, transportation for errands or outings, short-term furnished suites for those recovering after an illness, and is licensed and certified by the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Department of Aging, accepting ALF Waiver clients, and falls under the S.A.I. Group of Companies that run similar homes throughout Ohio, and with a user rating of 3.8 out of 8 reviews and a community score of 7.8 out of 10, it stands as the third highest-rated community for assisted living in Ravenna, which gives a sense that people are generally satisfied even if nobody expects perfection, and with consultation hours on weekdays and available by appointment on weekends, families can usually find a good time to visit or talk with staff, and overall, Alpine House of Ravenna focuses on supporting seniors in a homelike, safe, and activity-filled setting, always working to make daily life a bit easier and brighter for those who call it home.
