Sagamore Hills Estates is a senior living facility that operated as an assisted living and memory care community, also providing respite, or short-stay care, for its residents. The facility was established in a two-story building constructed in 1999, encompassing 33,018 square feet and valued at $6.35 million. Over the years, Sagamore Hills Estates became home for seniors requiring various levels of support and care, serving both long-term residents and individuals needing temporary assistance.
In recent times, the management structure of Sagamore Hills Estates underwent changes, with a new management company taking over in the fall. Despite the efforts and intentions accompanying this transition, it became evident by the spring that significant enhancements were required to the facility. After a detailed review of the needed changes, the management determined that continued operation was no longer feasible. As a result, the decision was made to close Sagamore Hills Estates by the end of May.
Communication about the closure began at the end of March, starting with phone calls to families, followed by official letters sent in early April. The facility’s management worked closely with residents and their families to ensure a smooth transition, coordinating moves to other nearby senior living communities and providing assistance with transportation and medical record transfers. Residents were gradually relocated, with special care taken to ensure continuity and minimize stress, especially since moving from a familiar environment can be a challenging process for seniors.
At the time management changed hands in the previous fall, the facility was operating at a reduced capacity with 45 residents, despite being licensed for a much higher number. By early May, almost all residents had found new accommodations, with only a few still in the transition process. The team at Sagamore Hills Estates remained focused on supporting these remaining residents in finding suitable new homes and ensuring their needs continued to be met during the closing period.
Throughout its operation, Sagamore Hills Estates offered a variety of care options intended to support seniors and their families, delivering assisted living, memory care, and short-stay services in a setting designed to feel secure and supportive. The process of closing and relocating residents was managed with attention to the sensitivities and needs of the clients, reflecting the commitment to their well-being even in the home’s final days.
