    Comfortable facility with some shortcomings

I was relieved by the friendly, caring staff, clean well-maintained facility, cozy rooms (two dressers, wardrobe, twin bed, microwave, fridge, private bath) and creative activities - crafts, theater with popcorn, pool room, karaoke - plus impressive food and housekeeping. The remodeled hospital layout can feel dark and dreary with no outdoor area, nurses seemed few and care was largely meds administration at times, and staff were occasionally slow or unavailable. I felt comfortable quickly and got peace of mind, but it wasn't quite right for my mom.

About Alpine House of West Union

Alpine House of West Union sits on a quiet 6-acre property and offers care for adults 55 and over who need assisted living, memory care for Alzheimer's and dementia, nursing home services, or independent living options, and the place has 80 licensed residential care beds. The suites are good-sized studios or one-bedrooms, each with private attached bathrooms, ADA height toilets, tubs or showers with safety bars and seats, a microwave, mini-refrigerator, and closet, and folks can bring small dogs or cats if they want. Assisted living residents get help with daily tasks and medication if needed, plus there's a nurse on-call around the clock, and for health needs, there's a therapy and exercise room, a tele-health kiosk, and on-site nurses, therapists, and home health workers for physical, occupational, and speech therapy. The property feels open, with big common areas, enclosed courtyards, outdoor patios and gardens, and places like a gym, media room, arts and crafts area, recreation room, billiards lounge, and a Jacuzzi room-there's also a barbershop and beauty salon right there for haircuts.

Residents eat three balanced meals a day in a large, shared dining room, with snacks available any time, and anyone living there can use high-speed Wi-Fi, cable TV in their rooms, and a business center or private meeting room for family visits. Safety's a focus, with a sprinkler system, 24-hour video monitoring, coded entry, safety alarms, and three call light stations in each suite. The staff run different programs and activities every day, like movie nights, story time, game nights, music groups, Nintendo Wii bowling, and arts and crafts, so there's always something to do, plus transportation, housekeeping, laundry, and dry-cleaning are all covered as well. Housekeeping and personal care are available from friendly staff, and residents who need help with mobility, managing diabetes, incontinence, or non-ambulatory care will find that support.

Alpine House of West Union is certified by the Ohio Department of Aging and licensed by the Ohio Department of Health, and it takes ALF Medicaid Waiver clients too, but the facility doesn't publish specific prices. There's parking for residents and guests and the building is designed to help people stay as independent as possible, with trained staff, tailored care plans, and extra supervision for those with memory needs, including a secured memory care unit with coded exits. People can take part in planned outings and devotional services offsite, or relax with quiet time in the gardens or playing games inside. The place's review history isn't long, but it does have a verified review process, and folks seem to say it's a simple place where comfort isn't treated like a luxury. The community tries to make everyone feel welcome, safe, and supported to live a full life with dignity.
