    Gorgeous amenities, inconsistent care, expensive

I moved my parent here and the facility is gorgeous and very new - restaurant-style dining, salon, gym, theater and plenty of activities, and it's conveniently close to home. Staffing and care were hit-or-miss: we had attentive, knowledgeable nurses and caring aides, excellent communication at times, but also rude staff, short staffing, slow call responses, medication errors and occasional neglect (missed changes/bedsores, odors). It's expensive and can be worth it if you get a good team, but management turnover, billing/communication issues and inconsistent care are real risks. Do your homework, get payment terms in writing, and monitor care closely.

About Paramount Senior Living at Polaris

Paramount Senior Living at Polaris sits in a neighborhood with parks, walking paths, and medical facilities close by, which makes it convenient for residents and their families, and the community has earned recognition for its quality care, kind staff, active programs, and nutritious meals. The place offers Assisted Living, Memory Care, Independent Living, Long-Term Care, Rehabilitation Care, Respite Care, and Personal Care, all under one roof, and folks can stay in apartment-style suites that have private or companion options, full baths, private kitchens, wall-to-wall carpeting, spacious showers, and the comfort of individual climate controls. The community has Wander Guard systems, fire safety features, emergency call response setups in each suite, and 24-hour on-site licensed skilled nurses who help with wound management, medication management and administration, diabetic teaching, bowel and bladder care, as well as help with bathing, dressing, getting around, and daily living needs. The design supports aging in place, so as people need more help, they can get services brought right to their own apartment, which means residents don't have to move when their needs change, and the buildings themselves use brick and steel for good safety and comfort.

Daily routines offer three well-balanced meals from in-house chefs, and folks can use a private dining room when visitors come, while weekly housekeeping keeps spaces neat and all utilities, including cable and Wi-Fi, are paid, so there's less to juggle or worry about. Residents join in a robust activities program that runs seven days a week, with daily exercises, pet visits, music, group outings, sporting events, crafts, and social gatherings, and the community earned a Best Activities award for keeping folks engaged socially, physically, and mentally. The grounds are nicely landscaped, with walking paths, gardens, a big porch for relaxing, and indoor commons include an atrium, media rooms, dining areas, and a Bistro with snacks all day, so there's always a spot for conversation or quiet.

Special memory care programs are led by staff with Alzheimer's and Dementia training and use reminiscence groups, custom activities, and on-site behavior specialists to help each person feel supported and respected, and families can join support groups too. On-site physicians, nursing aides, podiatry, and optometry visits help keep care close by, and residents who need physical, occupational, or speech therapy after a stroke or surgery have licensed therapists on hand for those services. People also get transportation for outings, health checkups, or errands, and the health and fitness center has treadmills and exercise bikes for anyone interested. Social services, nutrition support, community and spiritual programs, daily socials, enrichment, and bereavement counseling are part of life here, and hospice care is available for those facing serious illness, so families can find comfort too.

The community's compassionate approach, skilled care, and strong programs for memory support help residents feel at home, and with a flexible setup that adjusts to different needs as people age, loved ones can keep their routines and dignity, surrounded by gardens, friendly staff, good meals, and a schedule full of choices.
