    Impressive welcoming rural senior community

I toured this National Church Residences community and was impressed. The beautiful, well-kept rural campus has spacious new free-standing and duplex homes (3 BR/2 BA, garages), a clubhouse, library, rehab and workout rooms, and lots of outdoor space. Staff - especially Marjorie - are responsive, compassionate and attentive; residents are engaged and friendly; assisted living includes meals while independent living does not. Clean, family-focused, welcoming community - I highly recommend it.

    About Legacy Village

Legacy Village sits on a large 253-acre property at 1201 Livingston Lane in Xenia, Ohio, where you'll find rolling lawns, mature trees, gardens, and walking paths, and there are more than 500 kinds of trees throughout the campus, which gives a nice, peaceful setting for folks who like being outdoors or enjoy a rural atmosphere, and there are nearby parks, five pharmacies, six doctors, two hospitals, several restaurants, and two places of worship. The campus has different kinds of homes, including newer ranch-style patio homes with open floor plans, sunrooms, breakfast rooms, and attached garages, as well as single-floor duplexes and single-family homes, so residents can pick what fits their needs, and inside the community there's a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, with features like kitchens, washer and dryer hookups, individual climate control, cable TV, and storage space, and there are also options for three-bedroom layouts and barrier-free access for people who need it.

Residents can bring their pets along, and guest accommodations are available. The staff stays on site around the clock to help with things like medication management, medical and personal care, and help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and getting around if folks need it, and there's also skilled nursing care, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, hospice care, and respite services, plus home health care and primary care connections, so there's a range of support for different health needs. Laundry, linen, housekeeping, and meals are all taken care of, and transportation services help with errands or appointments, but folks do pay for their own telephone, utilities, and cable.

Legacy Village has many places to gather, like a clubhouse, lounge, library, computer room, community room, a movie room, and game room, and there are activity areas for art, fitness classes, games, educational courses, and plenty of events to keep people engaged. There's a chapel on campus for spiritual needs, a hair salon, a fitness center, a bistro and a café snack area, plus outdoor spots to sit and garden, walking paths for strolling, and a gift shop for convenience shopping or picking up something special, and people can visit two nearby cafes or enjoy several dining options on the property that focus on nutritious food planned by chefs.

Legacy Village has won awards for engaging activities that get folks moving and thinking, and people often comment that the environment is friendly and kind, with staff ready to help anytime, day or night. There's a dedicated website, a downloadable brochure, and local senior living advisors help answer questions or guide folks through applying, and people can also take a virtual tour. The village has a long history dating back to 1896, and today it keeps a close-knit and welcoming feeling, offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, and hospice within one big community, and while residents get to enjoy a "maintenance-free" lifestyle with high review scores from families, they also have easy access to all sorts of activities, services, and supports that help keep everyday life running smoothly for seniors who want comfort, safety, and some fun along the way.
