    Good PT, awful overall care

I came here for rehab and found the physical therapy and some aides excellent and genuinely caring, but my overall stay was horrible. Management was disorganized and unresponsive - promised fixes never happened, calls went unanswered, and items/meds were misdelivered (even to a COVID-positive patient). Chronic understaffing produced long waits for Tylenol, delayed bathroom/shower assistance, medication mix-ups, hygiene neglect and safety risks that forced me to self-discharge. Food, cleanliness and maintenance were poor and costs didn't justify the care; I saw troubling lapses in pain management and communication. If you need good PT and kind staff, you might improve; otherwise I would not recommend this place.

About Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center

Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center sits in Grants Pass, Oregon, and offers both long-term nursing care and short-term rehab for people coming out of the hospital, which means folks get help while they recover, regain strength, or need supervision around the clock if living with health challenges that make daily life hard, and there are 145 certified beds with an average of 79 residents per day, so there's always someone around. People get care from skilled nurses and therapy staff who provide everything from help moving or eating, to wound care, tube feeding, and IV antibiotics, and they can also take part in therapy for speech, walking, and everyday activities, and if someone's coming from the hospital or planning to go home later, the team helps with that transition, too, always trying to work together with residents and families. Royale Gardens has programs for substance addiction recovery and supports folks with alcohol or drug problems, offering both private programs and residential long-term help, with different types of care under one roof. Some parts of the building are set up for people who need very close medical attention, while other areas are designed to help folks recover and move back home again or stay for ongoing support. There are basic amenities that make life more comfortable, like transportation to doctor appointments, on-site pharmacy and lab, regular activities for social connection, and help with things like cleaning or managing medicine, and meals are planned to fit people's special health needs, too. People get supervision all day and night with staff watching out for safety, but recent inspections show that Royale Gardens has had some trouble meeting certain care standards, since there were 70 deficiencies reported, including issues with infection control, keeping areas safe from accidents, and not always providing treatment that matches what residents want or need. The nurse staffing level comes in a bit below the state average, and nurse turnover is higher than other places, which means some changes in staff over time. Royale Gardens is affiliated with Volare Health and is operated by Volare Healthcare Management, showing it's part of a bigger group. On top of all this, hospice and palliative care try to put people's comfort and quality of life first during tough times, focusing on both medical help and emotional support.
