    Kind professional staff comfortable affordable

I placed my mom here and couldn't be happier - the staff are kind, professional and went above and beyond to keep her comfortable; her care, hygiene and our communication with the team were excellent. The community is spotless and homey, meals are plentiful (homemade favorites), move-in was smooth, and Kindred Hospice worked well with them. Affordable for the area and I'd recommend it to other families.

About Greystone Country Estates Personal Care & Independent Living

Greystone Country Estates Personal Care & Independent Living sits in a building that used to be an elementary school from the 1940s, built with limestone, which gives it a solid, home-like feel, and after J.R. Powell bought it in 1994, it reopened in 1996 as a personal care home with updates and changes to help seniors feel comfortable and safe, and the community offers both personal care and independent living for older adults who want help but still value their independence. The facility has licensed space for up to 101 adults, and there are 45 personal care beds, along with independent living duplex homes and condos for seniors, so couples can find private or semi-private rooms to suit their needs, and pets are welcome to join them. Greystone provides services for assisted living, memory care for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, as well as companion care, nursing care, long-term care, adult day services, and non-medical home care, with staff on hand day and night, and they can help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, medication, and even diabetes or wound care, and high blood pressure or special diets if needed. Seniors can get help with two-person transfers or insulin injections if the staff confirms it's safe to do so, so even those with complex needs don't have to worry about being turned away without a conversation. The staff works to know each resident and builds a wellness plan to help everyone stay active, with events to keep the mind sharp like games, worship, exercise, music, art, and even pet therapy, along with three home-cooked meals a day, snacks for heart health, monthly birthday parties, and devotional services. The grounds have garden areas, a book room, possibly a jacuzzi or sauna, fitness and game rooms, community evenings, and Wi-Fi, so families can stay in touch, and there's an emergency system with surveillance, alarms, and call buttons for safety, plus things like walk-in tubs, medication dispensers, and professional security services, and a staff barber or hairdresser visits for grooming. Transportation is complimentary and helps seniors get to doctors, shops, or spiritual services, while scheduled programs promote socializing and healthy routines. Residents also get laundry and housekeeping done for them, all utilities are included, and the rooms are clean and fully carpeted, with easy access for wheelchairs or walkers. No smoking is allowed indoors anywhere. The staff pays attention to medication and provides professional monitoring, even for those getting hospice or respite care, and they can help with diet changes for diabetes or other health needs if a doctor recommends it. The setting encourages independence as much as possible, and the varied activities, from fitness to movies to music treatment, aim to keep seniors enjoying each day, and Greystone also supports aging in place, so as needs change, seniors don't need to leave for home care, medical alerts, or extra support. Residents can bring their pets, spend time outdoors, or take part in whatever activities suit them best, and the staff strives to pay personal attention so everyone feels safe, known, and cared for-whether it's help scheduling appointments or just enjoying a warm, welcoming, and maintenance-free environment that lets people stay as independent as they're able, with support as they need it. Greystone is licensed, certified, and follows rules set by Pennsylvania's Department of Social Services, and while it doesn't accept Medicare unless certified, it does make every effort to bring peace of mind to families looking for a secure place for their loved ones.
