    Warm staff, clean building, recommended

I moved my loved one here and, overall, I'm glad we did. The staff are warm, respectful and often top-notch - attentive CNAs and caring nurses - and the building is spotless, apartment-like and safe. Meals (three a day) and activities exist, transportation is available, and COVID measures felt effective. Downsides: pricing can be high, staffing/compassion and responsiveness are inconsistent at times, privacy/housekeeping lapses and tight parking/odd location were issues. Despite those flaws, it felt like a home and I'd generally recommend it.

About Paramount Senior Living South Hills

Paramount Senior Living South Hills sits at 100 Knoedler Road in Pittsburgh, PA 15236, right by the Monongahela River and surrounded by scenic farmland and green spaces, and you'll find a three-story, classically designed building with brick accents and big columns, where folks who've built a life can still enjoy their days with different levels of care as their needs change, since they offer independent living for those who can do most things on their own but like being part of a friendly neighborhood, assisted living for seniors who need help with bathing, dressing, getting around, and taking medicine, and specialized memory care for people facing Alzheimer's or dementia with secure areas, structured activities, and extra safety, plus a skilled nursing facility and support for those requiring rehabilitation, diabetic care, wound management, or even hospice and home health care when the time comes. The community has about 95 apartment-style units-studios, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms-with private or shared options, full baths, wall-to-wall carpet, private kitchens, and an emergency call system in every suite, and there's a choice for folks bringing a pet, which is a real comfort to a lot of people who've had animals all their life. Medical staff, including licensed nurses, stay on-site 24 hours a day to monitor health and provide clinical care, like insulin administration or therapy after a surgery or stroke, and regular assessments make sure the right help is given as needs change-everything from bathing and grooming to medication management, continence support, and getting around safely.

Paramount South Hills is known for friendly, caring staff and a steady routine of activities to keep people active and social, with programs on and offsite, so there's always a reason to connect with others-whether it's group fitness in the health center with treadmills and bikes, a book in the library, coffee in the little café, or joining devotional services, planned social events, or breather spots like the landscaped walking paths, porches with comfortable seating, and flower gardens. Food here is prepared by chefs and meal planners with care for nutrition, and vegetarian options are available; residents eat together in a main dining room but can gather privately with family in a separate space if needed, and there's even a beautician on site, so getting a haircut or a shave is simple. Safety remains a large focus, with a full fire system, locked memory care units, and every suite hooked up to an emergency call response, and the whole building is wheelchair accessible. For convenience, there's scheduled group transportation for errands or appointments, laundry and housekeeping, both provided or self-serve, and plenty of parking, plus Wi-Fi in the community areas.

This place has served folks for over 20 years, earning good marks for a clean environment and a warm, welcoming feel, offering clinical care like wound care and diabetes support, skilled therapy, medication management, and organized activities that range from crafts and education to religious support and physical therapy, all planned to suit the residents who live here. The staff pay attention to dignity and privacy, making sure help is there when someone needs it but never overstepping, and families often mention the good value from a single price for personal care, plus flexibility with payment, which may include private pay, long-term care insurance, or the VA. The management's committed to listening to seniors and their families, adjusting care plans and activity schedules so folks get personalized help and can keep enjoying life, whether staying just for a short time, as in respite care, or making the community their long-term home. Residents live close to local dining, shopping, and healthcare providers, making daily life pretty simple, and admission managers, like Chris Kelly, help move new folks in and answer community questions. With everything from beautiful gardens and fitness rooms to a dependable staff that genuinely cares, Paramount Senior Living South Hills tries to meet the needs of a wide range of seniors, and while it won't be perfect for everyone, it offers many choices for people wanting safety, company, medical attention, and a sense of home.
