    Caring, professional staff and facility

I placed my mom here and couldn't be happier - the staff are professional, genuinely caring, and go above and beyond. The community is clean, well-run and home-like with bright, accessible apartments opening to a lovely courtyard, a gorgeous dining room, and delicious meals. There are abundant activities, outings and strong medical/COVID protocols, plus excellent medication management and security. Smooth transition, great peace of mind - I highly recommend.

    About Sumter Grove Senior Living

Sumter Grove Senior Living in Sumter, SC, gives older adults a place to call home with a focus on comfort and daily support, and you'll notice right away the property is easy to get around since it's a one-story community, and residents can choose from spacious studios, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, and these come with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, walk-in closets, emergency call systems, and washer/dryer options, so you really can settle in with your own things just the way you want, and each unit is unfurnished so you can bring whatever makes you comfortable. They offer assisted living, memory care, independent living, and short-term options like respite or rehabilitation at places like Carriage House Senior Living and through Marian Carey Rehabilitation Center, which is handy for families who need extra help for a little while or something more permanent, and all of it is rental with no buy-in or long contracts.

You'll find experienced staff around the clock, including nurses, therapists-physical, occupational, and speech-plus a doctor and a dentist on call, with help for daily needs like bathing, dressing, and medication management, and they handle housekeeping and laundry, so residents can spend their time doing what they enjoy, and there's always someone to answer questions or keep loved ones updated. Meals come three times a day in the restaurant-style dining room, and food is planned to be nutritious and tasty, which makes for a nice routine. There are many shared spaces, like indoor and outdoor common areas, a courtyard, a library, lounges, a game room, and a beauty salon and barber shop, plus internet access for staying in touch or reading news, and there's resident parking if you still drive.

An activities director plans regular trips, field outings, and recreational activities to help residents stay engaged, and there's always something social happening, like arts and crafts, card games, or special events, plus devotional services for those who want it, either on site or elsewhere, and you can even bring your cat or dog to live with you at some communities, and that makes a difference to a lot of folks, since pets feel just like family. Community transportation is free and covers outings, errands, or even medical appointments, which brings peace of mind if you don't drive anymore, and the building's got wheelchair accessible showers and is non-smoking everywhere inside, whether you're in your own room or the shared spaces, making it safe and healthy for everyone. They accept both men and-at some residences-women only, and the whole place tries to be as welcoming as possible, with a strong feeling of companionship and support, which helps people feel less alone.

For healthcare, they've got a dentist, a podiatrist, and staff who handle things like medicine reminders, homecare needs, and hospice support when needed, and the therapy rooms help folks recover after illness or surgery, and even the counseling services at places like Morningside of Sumter are nearby, which gives a little extra help when life changes are hard. Sumter Grove Senior Living doesn't ask for long-term contract commitments, so families can feel better about transitions, and Medicare Part B is welcome for outpatient rehab if needed. The whole community is designed so people can keep their independence, get care that matches their needs, and know there's someone to lend a hand, all while living in a place that tries to feel like a real home.
