    About Walters Brothers Residential

Walters Brothers Residential sits about 8.8 miles outside Sumter, South Carolina, on 110 Geddings Road and offers different types of care for seniors, including assisted living, memory care, and board and care home services, so folks who want to keep some independence but need help with daily tasks like getting dressed, bathing, or managing medications have people around all the time who know what they're doing and can lend a hand day or night, and they even deal specifically with mild cognitive issues, Alzheimer's, and dementia needs, which is good for families that worry about their loved ones wandering or getting confused. The place can handle up to 20 residents, so it never feels too crowded, and people get a private or shared bedroom, some of which have private ADA-compliant bathrooms and even two-bedroom apartments are fully furnished, and there's air-conditioning, studio layouts, kitchenettes, and big closets for men and women that like to keep things tidy. There's a dining room with all-day options and three meals daily, prepared by folks who pay attention to allergies, diabetes, and special diets, and menus even include pureed choices if needed, plus extra nutritional guidance in case residents have high blood pressure or other health concerns that need a little care at the table.

You see, residents can use the phone, Internet, and cable in each room if they want to call family or just catch up on the news, and the building itself comes with things like planned daily activities, movie nights, music therapy, arts and crafts, fitness programs, and even animal therapy and board games for the folks who don't like to sit still all day; they do have walking paths, a garden, outdoor recreation areas, and a workout room for people who like a little fresh air or exercise, not to mention sometimes there's a sauna, a hot tub, barber and beauty shop, and reading room when somebody wants a bit of peace and quiet, and parking for family who come to visit. Caregivers are up and about at all times, assisting with bathing, grooming, clothing, toileting, incontinence care, medications, transfers-including 2-person transfers if needed-and everything is coordinated with doctors, nurses, and other health care folks, so even things like diabetic care, speech therapy, and health monitoring are handled, plus quick help for insulin shots or emergencies is always available.

There's always someone awake, and the place has a 24-hour emergency call system and security, which gives families a little more peace of mind if they have to leave mom or dad there overnight or longer, and they support transportation needs too, driving people to the doctor, running errands, or taking them to church and other community events, which is especially good for seniors who don't drive anymore. Housekeeping and laundry are part of the deal, and the staff pay special attention to keeping the place clean, warm, and welcoming, and they aim for a kind, loving, and professional atmosphere throughout, with activities sometimes even run by the residents themselves and counseling if anybody needs it.

The facility has its own names for some care programs and offers both short-term respite and long-term stays, even hospice services if a resident needs extra help near the end of life, and with daily devotional programs, visits from spiritual leaders, and offsite spiritual opportunities, residents can keep up with their faith if that's important. Walters Brothers Residential doesn't accept Medicare unless they've got the right certification, but they do provide employment for trained CNAs, LPNs, RNs, and experienced caregivers who know their work, and they're licensed through the proper channels, so you know they're following the state rules. Meals, utilities, and even extras like massage therapy are included, and there's always support right nearby for unscheduled needs, special diets, social events, health questions, and anything else a person might want as they get older.
