Homey facility, missed medication, distrust
I toured the brand-new wing (20 suites) of this family-owned, homey facility and was impressed - larger simple rooms, top-notch meals (they accommodated preferences), Lou's salon, live entertainment, Bingo and a welcoming chorus; staff were generally competent, kind and formed genuine relationships with residents. My mom received good hands-on care (help with baths) and the place felt affordable compared with others. However, staffing is sometimes slow/understaffed, they pushed for 24/7 private care or using insurance funds, and a complaint about nurse Becky went unanswered; during my mom's 6-day stay Xanax wasn't administered, she became agitated/confused and we discharged her - that shattered our trust. I'd still recommend touring to see if the atmosphere and staff fit your needs, but go in aware of the staffing/communication concerns.
