    Spacious apartments, excellent staff, expensive

I moved my mom in and I'm impressed: the grounds and apartments are beautiful, very clean, roomy with full kitchens and lots of storage, and the dining area/food is excellent. The staff are warm, attentive and helpful, the activity calendar is packed (theater, movies, exercise, trips, bingo, social hours) and medical/shuttle services are available - it feels like a country-club, not a nursing home. Downsides are the high cost, a few dated/smaller units and limited outdoor amenities, and occasional management/corporate hiccups. Overall I'd recommend it if you can afford the premium.

    About Sherrill Hills Retirement Resort

Sherrill Hills Retirement Resort in Knoxville gives seniors aged 55 and up a comfortable, peaceful place to live with a feeling much like a luxury hotel. The building stands three stories tall with different apartment choices such as studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and even three-bedroom units, and each apartment has things that make life safer and easier, like walk-in showers, grab bars, window coverings, and big closets, plus full kitchens with real appliances, and they allow pets without charging extra. Sherrill Hills is pet-friendly, has climate control, Wi-Fi everywhere, and covers utilities like cable, phone, and internet, and offers regular housekeeping and maintenance so residents don't have to worry about chores.

There's a full program of care available, ranging from independent living for active seniors to assisted living with help for daily things like bathing and medicine, and there's a secure memory care area for seniors with Alzheimer's or dementia, as well as skilled nursing on site for folks who need more medical attention, with clinics run by doctors and health care included as needed. The Main Street area inside has helpful stores like a pharmacy, a beauty salon, a bank, and a gift shop, and public rooms like libraries, lounges, and a business center give people a place to meet friends or enjoy some quiet.

There are many ways to stay active, since the community sits beside 30 miles of scenic walking and greenway trails, and inside there are plenty of things to do with a large exercise room, a spa, a theater with stadium seating, billiards, arcade games, and organized calendars led by a Lifestyle Director who makes sure there are always activities, trips, and social hours. There's valet parking and transportation to help residents get around town for errands or appointments, along with a 24-hour concierge, live-in managers, a security system, and a round-the-clock emergency alert system.

Dining may feel special here since there are professional chefs who make three healthy meals daily, plus the "Signature Freedom Dining" program lets people eat when it suits them, and there's even meal delivery for those who don't feel like going to the dining area for supper. Residents also get free access to a travel program that lets them visit other Resort Lifestyle Communities elsewhere in the country at no extra cost, and there's community support to help with things like financial planning, Medicare or Medicaid questions, insurance, or Veterans Benefits, which can help families understand what options they have for payment.

Sherrill Hills is all-inclusive, which means most needs are met under one roof, from comfort, meals, and housekeeping, to personal care and organized community events, and there are tools, planning guides, and real-life stories to help make moving in easier. There's help for people of different ages and needs, ranging from residential care for kids to supportive apartments for seniors, and the goal is always to help people stay as independent and safe as possible without losing chances to socialize, learn, relax, or try new things. The community brings together safety, daily support, and ways to have fun, with enough variety in living options and care to fit most people's needs as they change over time.
