    Affordable active complex, slow maintenance

I toured Westview Towers from the waiting list. It's inexpensive, clean and well-maintained with lots of activities (craft room, bingo, large gathering room, good TV), vending machines, and a great location by the mall, grocery, and a bus stop. Weekday medical staff are on site but there's no dedicated weekend medical staff (resident floor advisers cover weekends). Maintenance seems active, but complaints are handled slowly and some were ignored - I'm moving out. Apartment options are limited (one-bed/efficiency); I never got to see a unit and was disappointed, though it is affordable.

    About Westview Towers

Westview Towers sits at 7823 Gleason Drive in the Northshore area of Knoxville, and the place has a long history since it was built in 1975, offering a safe and affordable apartment complex for people 62 years and older, as well as for adults 18 and over who are disabled or handicapped, and you'll find there are 240 units in total with a mix of efficiency studios and one-bedroom floor plans, from about 433 to 529 square feet, and even though the apartments are older, many have recent renovations with features expected for modern living, like sleek finishes you can wipe clean easily. Folks who live there get plenty of parking spaces, secure building entry, and several washers and dryers on-site so laundry doesn't require a drive or trip outside. There's on-site management and a maintenance team that responds to problems pretty quickly when something breaks or you need help, and it gives residents some comfort, especially if someone needs a hand or just reassurance. The community spaces, such as lounges, activity rooms, and a dining area, allow everyone a place to relax or gather, and there are organized social events, entertainment, fitness activities in the small gym, and regular get-togethers, which can keep residents from feeling lonely or cooped up. Some apartments and community features are accessible for people with disabilities, which is helpful, and the whole property is non-smoking, so you won't be dealing with smells or smoke drifting around. Pets are allowed so long as folks follow the property rules, which lets people keep company if they like. Residents on limited incomes can qualify for income-based rent thanks to the Section 8 and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit programs, and there's a 12-month lease term that keeps things steady and reliable. The complex also provides a resident service coordinator, someone whose job is to help with daily needs or connect folks to services, and there's a small beauty salon on site, which can be helpful for those who don't want the trouble of leaving for a haircut. Outdoor areas give residents a place for some sun or fresh air, and family or friends can join at meal times in the dining area. The age-restricted policy keeps the community focused on older adults, so it remains a quieter and more comfortable place for seniors who need affordable, independent housing while wanting a bit of help and social life without constant supervision. All the basics like laundry, parking, and safety are in place, and you can get details about utilities and amenities through property reports if you want to know the fine print.
