    Lovely place, caring staff, unsafe

I have mixed feelings. The community is beautiful, bright, and offers great activities, therapy and many genuinely caring staff who treated my parent like family. But chronic understaffing, ignored call buttons and slow/no nurse response-especially at night-led to safety incidents, missed/lost meds and even late-night hospital transfers. Meals and communication are inconsistent and there were surprise charges; lovely place with compassionate people, but staffing and responsiveness need urgent improvement.

    About Morningview Village Senior Community

Morningview Village Senior Community sits right in the center of Maryville, Tennessee, and has served the area since 2001, offering housing and care for older adults in the middle of Blount County. Folks here find different kinds of apartments, over 93 in all, each with private layouts and full kitchens, whether someone's looking for independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, or secure memory care. Residents can choose from garden apartments if they want a bit more room or privacy, and the monthly rent covers things like utilities, cable, WiFi, and trash, so there are fewer bills to worry about. For people needing a bit more help, there are assisted living services for daily tasks like getting dressed, bathing, taking medicine, or managing diabetes and incontinence, and a Transitional Care Center offers short-term rehab therapies-physical, occupational, and speech-if someone needs extra care after a hospital stay. The Memory Care part of the community stands out because it's specially designed for seniors dealing with memory loss, providing group activities, secure suites, and staff who know how to handle Alzheimer's or dementia in a calm, safe environment. Independent living folks can join in community events or head out on shopping or restaurant trips in Blount County with the free transportation ride, while those who like to keep busy enjoy a lively social calendar, with movie nights, outings, devotional gatherings, and more. The community has 96 trained and helpful staff members, including an onsite nurse and around-the-clock security, emergency response, and fire protection. Volunteers from the local area come around for different programs, adding to the warm, home-like feeling where people know each other's names. Amenities are laid out with seniors in mind-well-lit parking for visitors, garden spaces for fresh air, and dining that focuses on nutritious, quality meals. Morningview Village has several special terms for things around the campus-like their Transitional Care Center for folks needing short-term rehabilitation, and their unique system for assisted living applications. There are dedicated contacts for each service, so folks always know who to talk to for different needs. The staff, including the administrator Leslie McInturff, do their best to make everyone feel at home, answering questions during office hours Monday through Friday and setting up weekend appointments for tours or career inquiries if needed. Extra offerings include CNA training, educational seminars, and an annual convention. Families and prospective residents can try out the visitor tour program to see the campus and ask questions. The community's set up for many stages of aging, which helps people stay in one place if their needs change, and for those who need long-term care, there's a sister community nearby as part of their network.
