    Friendly staff but poor management

I found the building clean, home-like, and many staff genuinely kind, long-tenured, and active with residents - activities and caring CNAs/nurses were often excellent. However management and communication were poor: billing errors, overcharges, denied refunds, and a money-driven attitude were common. Care was inconsistent - understaffing, missed meds, handling injuries, wrong diets/bedsores, and late end-of-life notifications happened. Tour in person, but proceed cautiously and read contracts/billing closely.

    About Valencia at Draper

Valencia at Draper sits at 11631 S 700 E in Draper, Utah, tucked away with peaceful views of the Wasatch Mountains, so you've got that nice mountain air and winter scenery especially when the snow hits, and the place feels kind of cozy, with rooms that let in a bit of light and enough space to move around. The staff here know about dementia and Alzheimer's care, so every person gets an individual plan that changes as their needs shift, and you've got specialized programs like Generations Memory Care that add structure and comfort to each day. Sprinkler systems run throughout the property, rooms have handicap access, and there are emergency call buttons in every unit, plus round-the-clock staffing and strict safety protocols, so you don't have to worry much about someone being there if something comes up.

You'll find steady personal care-things like help with walking or using a wheelchair, reminders for taking medicine, and assistants who help with the basics like bathing or dressing, and they've got nurses on staff part-time to cover health needs. People can use in-home health care, therapy services for physical or mental health, and on-site physical rehabilitation if something happens. The place offers different services, so someone can move from independent living to assisted living, then to memory care or even hospice if that's ever needed, and if short-term help is needed there's Adult Day Services too. All the rooms come with kitchens or kitchenettes, appliances, and WiFi, plus cable TV, so you can make your coffee or watch the news from your own space or have a meal delivered to you, but there are also communal dining rooms where everyone can talk and share a meal, and the Elevate dining program means the kitchen pays attention to nutrition-there's even a registered dietician to check meals for people with special diets or who need healthier choices.

You get plenty of housekeeping and linen service every week, and laundry or dry cleaning gets picked up and dropped off so you don't need to fuss with washing machines, and the salon right on site means folks can keep up with haircuts or get spruced up without going out. There are outdoor garden areas and little walking paths, pet-friendly spaces, and places to play games or do arts and crafts, and they even have a computer room and a library, which gives everyone something to do if they want to stay busy or learn something new-the Vibrant Life program organizes lots of social events, wellness programs, and education classes. The campus stays busy with day programs to build a sense of community and regular outings for shopping, and even has scheduled rides if someone needs to get out or visit a doctor. Long-term care insurance and Medicaid are accepted, and residents can pay by check or credit card, which keeps things simple.

Valencia at Draper doesn't have things like pools or fancy patios, but it does have steady staff support, a focus on what each person wants and needs, and a safe place to be heard and cared for, along with doctors, meal service, and outings to keep the days passing with a sense of purpose. The apartment community is for rent, not for sale, with private accommodations for each resident and the freedom to meet up in the various gathering spaces, and even though it's not covered in awards or listed on some real estate sites, it's a spot where people from the Salt Lake City area can settle in and know someone's always close by if they need something, in a setting that's tried to cover the basics with a few helpful extras.
