    Loving compassionate care, highly recommended

I placed my mom here and I'm very happy with the decision. The staff - especially Debbie, Terry and Robert - treated her like family, the care was loving and compassionate, and she didn't want to leave. The facility is clean (no urine smell), well maintained with comfortable, well-provisioned rooms, and the homey food is sufficient. I have peace of mind knowing residents are content and the cost reflects excellent care - I highly recommend it.

    About Blue Ridge Christian Homes

Blue Ridge Christian Homes has shown true family care since 1975, starting on the old Bender family dairy farm and keeping to a simple, Christian way of life through over fifty years and two locations, one in Bealeton, VA, and the other in Raphine, VA, right there in the green of the Virginia countryside, where you'll see that the care comes with a rural, home-like setting and that working farm still out back. The buildings are all single-story, making it easy for getting around, whether you're on your own two feet or you need a wheelchair, and there are both private and shared rooms, with all the basics, right down to a telephone in the room and furnished spaces, and there's always move-in help for new folks joining the community. You'll notice that help with daily life comes steady here, whether it's with bathing, using the bathroom, getting dressed, or if you need help with transferring from bed to chair, and the staff-the place doesn't use those big temp agencies, so the faces stay the same-are always on hand for medication management and prompt response to call bells, making it so everyone feels seen and safe, day or night. The kitchen's been in good hands with Chef Debi Hicks for over thirty-eight years, who's cooked over 700,000 good, home-style meals, offering both fine dining and all-day options, serving most any need, from diabetes to food allergies, and the staff eat right alongside the residents, at a big family-style table in the community dining room, which feels real warm and welcoming. Snack and hydration breaks happen three times a day at 10AM, 2PM, and 7PM, and the staff are always ready to help if anyone needs it. There's always something happening, whether in that central living room that doubles as a chapel, movie space, and concert spot, or out in the gardens and walking paths, and folks can find quiet in the well-stocked library, join in arts and crafts in the arts room, or visit the on-site salon for a haircut or bit of grooming. The schedule has four church services every week-Tuesday Bible study, Wednesday chapel, Saturday evening singing, and Sunday morning worship-so faith and fellowship run deep, and the place does plenty of Christian-based programs and community events, like game nights, movie nights, poetry readings, and local music, with families and residents both joining in and sharing their talents. The home covers assisted living needs, non-ambulatory care, age-in-place all the way through end of life, and even respite care with short stays when a bed's open, plus a well-run housekeeping, laundry, and dry cleaning service keeps things clean and easy for everyone, and the same goes for rides-there's transportation and parking, making outings and visits plain and simple. The management and care go on now under Shawn and Katrina Wampler at Bealeton and stick close to Christian spirit, with a tradition of honoring older folks in their roles as parents or grandparents, keeping them active and connected, and there's always an open door for family visits or trips out, so folks don't feel cut off from their loved ones. Residents seem to have a way of living long, full lives here, with stories like Esther, who lived to 94, and Rose, who made it to 102, and every effort gets made to let people stay as independent and comfortable as they can, living with kindness in a close community.
