Oakmont at Gordon Park is an assisted living and retirement community on a quiet 16-acre spot in Bristol, VA's Dale Gordon Business Park, where you'll see oak trees, mountain views, and a country club-like atmosphere, and it's locally owned and developed by community members, which means people care about the way it feels and runs. The community offers private studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom suites with high ceilings, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, emergency pendants, and pull cords in bathrooms, along with weekly housekeeping, laundry, apartment upkeep, and all utilities including phone and cable, so residents don't have to worry about those things. People living at Oakmont get three meals a day served in a grand dining room, plus special dining programs and nutrition for different needs, and there's always staff around to help discretely with bathing, grooming, dressing, dining, and reminding about medicines at any hour. Oakmont has a full schedule of social, educational, and entertainment activities to help keep minds and bodies active, and there's an enclosed courtyard for enjoying fresh air and scheduled outings to city spots, nearby restaurants, and doctor's offices just moments across the state line. The Heartfelt Connections - A Memory Care Program® offers person-centered support for folks with dementia or Alzheimer's, with custom activities designed around each person's likes, dislikes, stories, and faiths-Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, and others-with a staff trained to provide respectful and safe care, so relatives can rest a little easier knowing their loved ones are in a secure place. Respite care and hospice services are available when someone needs short-term or end-of-life care, so families don't have to look somewhere else if needs change. Oakmont provides outdoor courtyards, beautician services on site, planned transportation in a set area, religious and devotional meetings, and daily activities, and offers easy access to a range of care, from independent living to incontinence, diabetes, non-ambulatory, and enriched care with licensed professionals. With supportive services, purpose-driven amenities, and friendly staff who focus on preserving independence and dignity, Oakmont at Gordon Park remains a choice for seniors who want a safe, friendly setting that's devoted to quality of life.
Gorgeous facility, caring staff, satisfied
I toured and moved my mom in - the place is gorgeous and well-maintained with bright, roomy private suites, lovely outdoor courtyards, and lots of activities. Staff are caring, knowledgeable and responsive; residents seem happy and treated like family, though CNAs are clearly stretched and understaffed at times. Food is generally good with great variety and restaurant-style dining, but pureed meals weren't appetizing and I noticed an occasionally messy dining area. There are visible ongoing repairs (carpet replacement, patched wheelchair damage), yet overall it feels clean, safe, and homey - I'm very happy with the care.
