Summit Health & Rehab Center sits at 1300 Enterprise Drive in Lynchburg, Virginia, and the place does cover a lot of ground when it comes to care, being part of Hill Valley Healthcare and run by administrators Jonathan Lustbader and Mr. Andrew Shuler, and while the building has 120 licensed beds and over thirty-eight thousand patient days reported in a year, they're not taking new patients right now, but for those inside, they offer a full range of services like skilled nursing care, memory support, long-term care, and short-term rehabilitation, and you get nurses around the clock, which means if someone needs help day or night, they're there. They've got therapy options that go well beyond the basics-occupational, physical, and speech therapy all on site, and there's special treatment for everything from wound care to tracheostomy, bariatric issues, orthopedic rehab, pulmonary care, oncology, and even post-surgical care, so folks with more complicated medical needs have the right resources under one roof. People who live there have access to independent and assisted living options, as well as hospice, palliative care, and even specialized care for dementia and Alzheimer's, which makes it easier for couples or friends with different needs to stay connected. They keep things "People First" and they try to build care plans around what each person needs, not just following a template, and most staff speak English, which keeps communication clear for most families. Rooms come in semi-private at $230 daily or private at $235 daily, and the programs for things like dialysis, wound, and outpatient care show they're set up for both folks planning longer stays and those only needing to get stronger and go home. Summit Health & Rehab Center falls under Virginia's long-term care and skilled nursing facility guidelines, so you get all the required supports, and the rehab areas have up-to-date tools and facilities for recovery. Staff keep the building open at all hours-twenty-four hours, seven days a week, someone's always there-and you can find answers to most questions on their website through FAQs, a glossary, a gallery, and some helpful links, plus there's a contact form if you want more details, but mostly they focus on supporting recovery and daily living for people who need more than what can be managed at home.

Compassionate care but staffing concerns
I had a mixed experience. Many staff were caring and attentive-Delisa Rogers, Wanda Romero, nurse Kenneth Patterson and the PT team (Beth, Jordan) stood out-and the rehab, hospice support, clean rooms and peaceful atmosphere gave us real gratitude and peace of mind. But I also saw serious inconsistencies: understaffing, poor night coverage, slow or absent responses, bad communication (family not notified of transfers), inconsistent PT, hygiene/wound-care concerns, a fall, and missing belongings. Food, activities and admin responsiveness were hit-or-miss. I would recommend for compassionate rehab/hospice care, but only with caution-stay vigilant about notifications, personal items and staffing levels.
