    Clean friendly facility; excellent food

My aunt lives here and is very happy — the facility is clean, livable, and in a beautiful location near the hospital. The food is excellent, staff are pleasant, respectful and helpful; personal items and pets are allowed, and there’s outdoor seating plus basketball games. I’ve seen no mistreatment, only minor upgrades needed. Highly recommended.

    About Boston Commons

Boston Commons sits in South Boston, Virginia, and aims to make you feel at home with a calm, safe, and family-like atmosphere where residents get to choose private or shared rooms, and there's always someone around since staff are awake and ready to help twenty-four hours a day, so whether you need help with bathing, dressing, moving around, taking medications, or just want a friendly face nearby, they handle those things with respect. The place is licensed for 50 beds and keeps a smaller, welcoming community instead of being crowded, and they've got a range of options with studio apartments, semi-private rooms, furnished spaces, and common areas for socializing. You get home-cooked meals planned by chefs, and there's all-day dining in a comfortable dining room with special care for allergies or diabetes-plus, the kitchen is commercial-sized so they can serve everyone easily, and there are garden areas and walking paths to enjoy fresh air. The facility meets state regulations, runs inspections, has fire safety features like a sprinkler system, and provides personal care with an emergency alert and a 24-hour call system, so safety and quick help are always there.

Boston Commons also offers activities including movie nights, crafts, music, fitness, social games, and events planned by residents themselves, with spaces like a library, craft room, recreation area, and movie room, while there's a book room for quiet time and a salon for haircuts or grooming. For health, they've got skilled nursing, medication reminders, memory care for dementia and Alzheimer's, diabetic and incontinence care, assistance for those who can't walk, and respite or hospice services for short-term or end-of-life needs, plus internal medicine and urgent care with onsite lab testing, so health is covered in-house. The community offers specialized programs like music therapy, pet therapy, board games, devotional gatherings, and more, which can help residents socialize and stay active in body and mind, and transportation gets arranged for shopping, faith activities, doctor's appointments, and errands without extra hassle.

Boston Commons provides regular laundry, linen, and housekeeping services and won't mind helping with transfers, so you can expect a clean, easy space, with public water, sewer, and a big parking lot with 27 spaces. They allow some pets, although there are restrictions, so if that's important, it's good to ask what the rules are, and all care is given in English, with caregivers who speak English to support you. The community doesn't take Medicare because they aren't certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and adults aged 55 and older can find long-term or short-term care here with all the usual help a person might need as they get older. The facility is run by Boston Commons, Ltd., with oversight from licensed doctors, psychiatrists, and psychoanalysts, and it's got a dialysis facility with advanced technology and an array of medical and wellness programs focused on prevention, fast diagnosis, and keeping people healthy for the long run. There's on-site health testing, a walk-in clinic for urgent needs, personal aides, and a range of senior living options including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing, so families can have peace of mind knowing their loved ones are cared for in a secure, well-monitored home.
