    Friendly staff, clean, nursing-home feel

My father lives here and I'm very pleased with the friendly, helpful staff, prompt communication, and attentive care. The place is clean, bright and homey with large rooms, private exterior doors, a secure campus in a beautiful country setting near Martinsburg, and delicious meals from a brand-new commercial kitchen. One downside: it feels more nursing-home than assisted-living for some residents - many are bedbound and courtyard use can be limited - though they have plans to expand.

    About Countryside Assisted Living

Countryside Assisted Living, licensed under number 507547, opened its doors in 2008 and sits in Martinsburg, West Virginia, on 1228 Berkeley Station Rd with a small, quiet setting of just 12 beds, which keeps things close-knit and peaceful. The facility offers many types of care under one roof, calling itself a continuing care retirement community, so folks can find assisted living, memory care, nursing care, or independent living help without needing to move as their needs change. Staff includes an RN with more than 18 years of experience, LPNs who know the residents well, and an Activities Director who makes sure there's always something meaningful planned, whether that's community-sponsored activities, movie nights, or walks outside on the garden paths when the weather's nice, and you know, everyone gets to join in if they want. Because it has emergency alert systems and provides transportation, families and residents feel a little more peace of mind about safety and getting where you need to go for appointments or outings. Rooms come furnished, and there's a dining room for scheduled meals; meal prep covers special diets, including for allergies or diabetes, and housekeeping with laundry-even dry cleaning-makes life easier for everyone living there. The staff offers help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, taking medicine, and moving around, and provide 24-hour supervision backed by staff who describe themselves as friends and confidants, always present to help or share a story. The building is wheelchair-accessible, has features for non-ambulatory residents, and works with local healthcare providers to help with any medical changes as people age. The atmosphere is described as loving, respectful, and focused on trust, since the management team and many of the staff have deep roots in the area and have been running things as a family for over 20 years, which probably explains why people say the culture feels like home. Residents can enjoy daily activities that keep the mind active and the spirit calm, so there's always something going on unless you feel like taking it easy in the garden instead, and everyone is encouraged to live at their own pace. It's got a 5.0 rating based on one review, which isn't much to go on, but it's something. Level II assisted living services are always available, and memory care support is there for those who need it, so most folks get what they need in terms of comfort, safety, and a bit of companionship in a simple, homelike setting.
