    Compassionate care with staffing concerns

I'm grateful for the compassionate, hardworking nurses and CNAs - 24-hour attentive care, excellent rehab, a super-clean, respectful, family-oriented facility that met my dad's needs. My only concerns are occasional short-staffing and unprofessional drama, and it's emotionally hard being away from home with family far away.

    About Grant County Nursing Home

Grant County Nursing Home sits at 127 Early Ave in Petersburg, West Virginia, right inside the hospital, and has 110 certified beds that serve older adults who need skilled nursing, long-term care, or help with daily activities, and folks who need rehabilitation or therapy services too, so there are always nurses and staff around the clock, and with both Medicare and Medicaid acceptance going back to 1997, you'll find most days about 84 residents living here, with nurse hours averaging about 4.12 per resident and regular staff work totaling about 0.36 hours per resident every day, and there's a non-profit county organization in charge of ownership, which changed hands in the past couple years. The place does stand out for things like its beauty shop, social services, activities, nutrition support, pet policy, laundry, and housekeeping, in addition to programs for Alzheimer's care, palliative care, and transitional assisted living-plus, the team works with families on care plans, and they always try to keep people involved through community volunteers and events. The facility's always had a sprinkler system for fire safety and is held to federal infection control standards, but it's faced its share of challenges like a 37.4% nurse turnover rate, a history of 39 inspection deficiencies (with 3 of those tied to infection), and some issues around food safety and quality assurance meetings, but staff focus on being compassionate and upholding resident rights. Scores land in the average range, with an overall rating of 3 out of 5, a health rating of 2, a quality mark of 3, and a staff rating of 4, and within the broader region, Grant County Nursing Home falls roughly in the middle compared to other facilities, ranking 19th of 36 in Petersburg, 62nd of 124 in West Virginia, and 77th out of 187 within 100 miles, so folks will find a place that steadies itself on community, care, and a dedication to getting the basics right for daily living and comfort.
