    Caring staff facilities administrative issues

My loved one has been here six years and we visit weekly - it's a small, wonderful community overall. The staff are kind, respectful and compassionate, the nurse-to-resident ratio seems good, the facility is clean with private rooms/TV/bathroom, nice furnishings, daily activities and religious services, and medication changes helped with Alzheimer's. However administration is difficult about references, it's often short-staffed, there can be an unbearable smell, requests for help are sometimes ignored, and reaching the social worker/administration is frustrating.

    About Mansfield Place

Mansfield Place keeps busy as an active facility and follows strict health and safety rules, with life safety checks and a licensed administrator named Dana Gould making sure things run as they should, and you'll find it's also a Critical Access Hospital with skilled nursing, hospital care, and different care options all gathered up under one roof and at a few other spots, like Broaddus Hospital Behavioral Health and the various suites at 6 Healthcare Drive, which cover needs like Behavioral Health, Total Therapy, Wound Care, and Family Care. The place has 72 licensed and certified beds, including a 60-bed skilled nursing unit, and offers help for folks who need independent living, assisted living, memory care, in-home care, hospice, group home, adult day care, therapy, and even retirement community living, letting residents move between care types if their needs change, which can come in handy. Mansfield Place works with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance, and helps families find out about long-term care and insurance, offers supplies and medical equipment, and keeps a treatment team on hand, with nurses, physical and occupational therapists, a dietitian, social worker, and activities coordinator all working together.

Residents can expect help with everyday things like bathing, dressing, getting around, and managing medicines, and meals are made with attention to health needs, including special meals for diabetes or other diets, while housekeeping and laundry services relieve chores. The building's got features like a beauty salon/barber shop, a chapel, fitness and gaming rooms, computer and internet access, air-conditioning, cable TV, and each resident room comes with a private bathroom, though there are some semi-private, home-like rooms too with nice views of landscaped grounds and gardens, which gives a sense of peace and privacy yet space to meet with friends. There's a library and plenty of spots to visit, do art classes, read, or just spend time, with a common room, a central dining area with restaurant-style meals, and a walking path for fresh air.

For those needing therapy, laboratory or radiology services, behavioral medicine, swing or acute care in the hospital part, or specialty clinics, that's all available on-site, and you'll see physicians and health workers treating folks regularly. Mansfield Place pays attention to resident safety, using a 24-hour call system and supervision, and moves new residents in with help for a smoother start. Transportation arrangements are made for doctor's visits, group trips, and sometimes ambulance or helicopter rides if there's a medical need. Residents run activities, with daily and community-sponsored events, and families are welcome to visit in a comfortable setting that's meant to feel a bit like home, with spaces for private moments or group fun, and help always nearby if someone needs a hand, while they focus on keeping everyone as independent as possible. The staff speaks several languages, and there's help for those who want to bring personal things to their rooms or stick close to familiar routines, and most of all, the place aims to treat people with dignity and care, supporting mental and physical wellness with a lot of different programs matched to what folks need.
