Rock Springs Young At Heart, often referred to as the Young at Heart Center, has been a cornerstone of the Rock Springs and Sweetwater County community since 1973. With deep roots in serving older residents, the center has evolved continuously to support a wider range of community members through the years. In 2009, a major transformation occurred with the construction of a new facility, enabling Young At Heart to broaden its scope and accommodate the needs of individuals of all ages. This expansion marked a commitment not only to seniors but also to families, young children, and adults seeking enrichment or support services.
A hallmark of Young At Heart is its comprehensive approach to care and inclusion. Under the leadership of Executive Director Jamie Loredo, the center is administered with an eye toward continual community engagement and improvement. Early childhood services are coordinated by Brianna Romero, Director of the Early Learning Center, reflecting the commitment to nurturing the youngest members of the community. A strong emphasis on wellness is evident, as the center boasts both a Director of Nursing—Billie Seneshale—and a dedicated In Home Services Supervisor, Cindy Stensgard, who leads programs for home-based care. Access Care Coordinators, such as Melanie Tuey and Lacy Jensen, play a vital role in ensuring that all residents have their unique needs met.
The center balances its caring services with practical infrastructure and support. Misty Wilson serves as Center Bookkeeper, managing financial responsibilities for the main facility, while Kevin Kennis handles bookkeeping for home care services. The social and dietary needs of the community are prioritized through the efforts of Kitchen Manager Angela Stewart, and Daphne Palmer oversees the coordination of home-delivered meals, ensuring nutritious options are available to those who are homebound. Lyndee Tipton holds a dual role as Facility Secretary and Activities Coordinator, enriching daily life with an array of programs and recreational opportunities.
Young At Heart also features a suite of outreach and aging-related services, helmed by Kandi Lewis, Aging Division Coordinator, and supported by Lyndee Tipton in outreach efforts. These coordinators extend the center’s reach to those who may benefit from its resources but are unable to visit in person. Whether it's organizing engaging events or facilitating essential services, the staff ensures there's a personal and compassionate touch. Louise Webb provides a welcoming environment as receptionist, making every guest feel at home.
Governance at Rock Springs Young At Heart is guided by a dedicated board, including Richard Vandersloot as Chairman, Wanda Ferber as Vice Chairman, Kevin Maloney as Treasurer, and Kent Porenta as Secretary, alongside board members Tiffany Marshall, Sue Riggs, Philann Lux, Rusty Dickson, Shirli Woodward, and Keaton West, who serves as County Liaison. Together, they work to maintain the high standard of care and progressive outlook that distinguishes the center. Through these combined efforts, Young At Heart continues to foster a vibrant, supportive atmosphere where every member of the Rock Springs community—from children in the Early Learning Center to seniors enjoying meals and activities—can thrive and feel valued.
