    Compassionate, attentive care; some communication

I'm very impressed - wonderful, individualized care from empathetic, detail-oriented staff who communicate constantly and provide a loving touch in an impressive, highly rated facility. Private rooms are over $3,000 (shared under $3,000); my only issue was occasional unresponsiveness to outreach.

    About The Rose of Poway

The Rose of Poway sits in a peaceful spot with spacious grounds, big rose gardens, and lots of both indoor and outdoor areas for residents to enjoy, and you'll notice right away the lush gardens and cozy lounges along with furnished private or semi-private rooms that come with climate control, cable TV, and even washers and dryers. It serves seniors with memory care, assisted living, and independent living, with a special focus on people who have Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, including a secured, separate memory care building, a system using bracelets that keep residents safe, and staff dedicated as Memory Impairment Specialists who're awake and around at all hours, helping with bathing, dressing, incontinence, medication, and even behavioral issues that can show up with memory loss.

Residents often speak of the home-cooked meals, prepared by chefs and dietitians, three times a day in a dining room that feels more like a comfortable café, and you can get snacks from the always-open kitchen or enjoy special meal plans for different health conditions, including vegetarian choices. Residents who live with pets find it easy to settle in, since cats and dogs are welcome, and animal therapy is part of daily life. Help is always right there, so whether a resident needs help with bathing, grooming, using a wheelchair, transfers-including one or two-person assists or even a lift-someone's got them covered, and housekeeping, laundry, and regular linen service keep things clean.

The Rose of Poway isn't a big place, only six beds, so people get to know each other and the staff really well, and you see friendships grow in game rooms, eat together at the café, and share stories in the library or hair salon. The staff includes nurses, aides, and therapists who visit regularly, and a doctor is always on call. You see staff helping with daily chores, medication management, wound care, and even more specialized things like occupational therapy, speech therapy, and podiatry.

You can catch folks doing yoga, art therapy, music and dance programs, tabletop games, outings to shops or spiritual services, and movie nights with popcorn, while outdoor walks or just relaxing with a book in the reading room are common. Some folks use the community store or gift shop, others like outdoor activities or joining in after-dinner social events. Everyone's safety is top priority-there's a sprinkler system, secured areas to prevent wandering, and technology to keep an eye out for anyone at risk of getting lost.

The Rose of Poway takes residents who are younger than 55, both men and women, and people with needs ranging from light care to total care, including those who need hospice or respite. There's support in Chinese for those who need it, and families say staff are helpful and kind, keeping things calm and friendly. Insurance for long-term care's accepted, but not Medicare, and there's a focus on keeping things warm and inviting rather than clinical.

It's a small, licensed home in Poway, so some folks might call it a charming retreat, while others just see it as dependable place where seniors get professional help without losing the things that matter-pets, gardens, music, family, and the feeling of being at home, and you see this in simple details like fresh flowers in the dining room and friendly faces in the halls.
