      Neglect, dishonesty, exploitation, unsafe care

I moved my loved one here and at first it felt like a second home - compassionate caregivers, home-cooked meals, and an appetite and overall condition that improved after prior hospitalizations. Sadly I later found no licensed nurses on duty, falsified medication records, poor doctor communication, staff dishonesty, financial exploitation, and neglect (even a patient death); I'm grateful to a few professional staff, but I can't trust this facility.

      About Bernadette Home Care III

Bernadette Home Care III sits at 2281 Yosemite Avenue in Simi Valley, California, and holds a license from the State of California with license number 567609985, having started operations in May of 2020, and the home is owned by Bernadette Homes for the Elderly, LLC, one of several branches in the region, offering a smaller, residential care setting with six beds available, so you won't find yourself in a big nursing facility but instead in a house bordered by tall cypress trees with a gated entrance for privacy, and the house blends modern and craftsman architecture while providing a homelike, cozy feeling in a suburban area, with a focus on personal care, quiet, and making each resident feel comfortable and supported; there's a choice of private and semi-private rooms, all furnished, and there's a communal dining room for shared meals with options for special diets if needed, so folks who need diabetes or allergy-sensitive meals can get them, and meals are prepared daily, sometimes with input from families and residents, which makes things feel personal.

This home works well for adults 55 and older who want assisted living, memory care, or independent living with extra help; the staff speaks English and is trained to assist residents with medication management, eating, bathing, dressing, moving between beds or chairs, and grooming, including incontinence care when needed, and they're there at all hours for non-medical care and supervision, so you get help when you need it day or night, and there's also move-in coordination, so new residents don't have to figure things out by themselves. There are gardens, walking paths, and a patio for people who want to go outside, and the emergency alert systems are always ready in the rooms, so safety's considered.

A typical week here includes creative arts classes, movie nights, shared mealtimes, activities that promote friendship, transportation to appointments, and sometimes shopping trips, so residents don't feel stuck or isolated, and regular laundry and housekeeping services take care of chores, leaving more time for what people enjoy. The care team works out personalized plans for each person, so needs get met in a way that fits the resident, and the environment is built to be supportive and peaceful, all in a familiar home setting, which can help people feel less anxious about the changes that brought them to need more help.

Bernadette Home Care III keeps a standard operating schedule from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM on weekdays and 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM on weekends, and families often appreciate being able to meet with staff or get questions answered during those times; the price averages about $220 a day but specific rates aren't posted publicly. The home gets reviewed and rated by families, with a current rating listed as 4.0 out of 5 stars based on four reviews, and over 95% of these reviews are verified as first-hand experiences. The facility's gone through several routine and complaint inspections, with five total visits since its licensing, which keeps their standards in check, and the team works to support families by helping them understand their choices, connect with local advisors, and make informed decisions about care with no cost for that part of the process. Bernadette Home Care III aims for peace of mind, professionalism, and a sense of belonging, and is especially well-suited for people who need daily support while still valuing independence and privacy in a calm, welcoming California home.
