Affordable community with caring staff
I moved in recently and I'm totally sold. It's an older, well-maintained non-profit community in Santa Clara County with very reasonable rent (utilities and weekly housekeeping included), studio-to-cottage options, pets allowed, and a long waitlist/guarantor requirement. The dining hall is great-three meals daily and a salad bar-there are lots of activities, an on-site clinic with 24-hour nurses and med help, and the staff is warm and responsive. Grounds with redwoods, ponds and nearby shopping make it pleasant and safe; it's not top-of-the-line luxury (AC wasn't on one hot day), but for value and community it's the best place I've found.
