    Compassionate care with some caveats

I toured the nonprofit, faith-based campus and was impressed: bright, recently renovated grounds and spacious, clean apartments with a beautiful dining room and nonstop activities (bingo, exercise, music, outings, chapel). The staff were overwhelmingly caring, attentive and passionate; residents looked happy and well cared for, with 24-hour nursing available if needed. Meals are restaurant-style and generally good, and the community feels family-like and safe. Caveats: it's on the pricey side, I noted reports of past COVID closures, occasional understaffing/turnover, some communication and accessibility hiccups, and extra fees for laundry/meds. Overall I'd recommend it for excellent, compassionate care if the cost fits your budget.

    About Sayre Christian Village

Sayre Christian Village sits on a peaceful 27-acre campus in Lexington, Kentucky, where you'll find open green spaces, well-kept grounds, walking paths, and a private inner courtyard with plenty of places to sit and enjoy fresh air. Residents can choose from one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartments and patio homes, with open floor plans, full-size kitchens, and modern appliances like stove, oven, and a full refrigerator and freezer in each unit. Some apartments have modifications for people with mobility needs and rent subsidies through HUD at Baunta/Forest View Apartments. Friendship Towers offers both independent and assisted living together in one building with full-time, caring staff, and support staff available day and night for emergencies and daily needs.

Staff provides weekly linen and housekeeping services, trash removal, and maintenance-free living, with laundry rooms on every floor and in-unit washers and dryers in expansion apartments. Scheduled transportation helps residents get to shopping or appointments, and there's a dietitian on campus who focuses on fresh, local foods; special diets get accommodated. Dining includes all-day chef-inspired meals from 7 AM to 7 PM in a restaurant-style dining room or café, outdoor dining on the porch, pavilion, or courtyard, and a Grab-n-Go Bistro for coffee or a quick bite.

Inside, residents can use spaces like the Great Room, Multipurpose Event Center, Fireside Lounge, and a library. There's also a Fitness Center, Beauty Salon, Barbershop, and clinic. Full-time chaplain service means worship and Bible study happen regularly in dedicated spaces. Life here is full of staff-organized activities, with more than 3,500 cultural, social, and wellness programs each year, including community outings, creative groups, exercise, adventure trips, ice cream socials, bingo, birthday parties, and neighborhood-specific calendars, all organized by an award-winning Life Enrichment Team.

The community includes assisted living and memory care services, and residents can get personal care like medication assistance, help with bathing, dressing, and more from certified staff as needed. Specialized services like skilled nursing, short-term rehab, and therapy happen on the same campus. Families are invited to join in many activities and meals throughout the year. Emergency pull cords and accessible fire and response systems are found in all apartments, and there's support round the clock if any problem comes up. Sayre Christian Village is nonprofit, driven by a mission to provide hope, housing, and healthcare with Christian compassion, which shows in how staff care for residents and build trusting relationships over time, making this a comfortable place to live out different stages of senior life.
