Ohman Family Living at Blossom sits out in the Middlefield, Ohio countryside, run by the Ohman family since 1965, and you'll find folks here have got experience working closely with seniors and their families, since Blossom itself is part of a larger family operation with roots back to a small nine-bed nursing home started over half a century ago, and these days, the community has a focus on independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care for seniors facing all sorts of needs over time, with a real attention to love, compassion, and keeping life comfortable for all residents. Blossom's got different care levels, so someone healthy and independent might pick one of the three independent living homes, while those needing more help might live in one of the five assisted living units or in the skilled nursing section, which has 76 beds for people needing close care, including folks staying for long periods or just to recover after hospital visits with support for conditions like COPD or wounds, since Blossom's rehabilitation centers bring in staff for physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and there's also on-site nurses to watch over residents with medical needs, using modern technology for things like tele-medicine and medication tracking, which is the sort of thing that helps catch issues early and brings peace of mind to a lot of families. The memory care program specializes in caring for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, offering health programs and mentally stimulating activities in a safe environment, while the assisted living services cover help with daily tasks, and the independent living options let folks live maintenance-free and active, coming and going as they please, which is something many appreciate. The property has communal spaces for gathering-inside common rooms where you might see people playing games, joining in on wellness programs, enjoying meals prepared by chefs, or taking part in educational or spiritual activities both on-site and on trips off the ground, and for comfort there's things like a beauty salon, private renovated suites with big windows, 24-hour laundry and cleaning services, and security all day and night. Devotional services are offered both on the property and offsite, and staff keep a close watch over everyone in a way that feels like family, because the management, led by Nancy Ohman Milner, sees their work as a calling-a real devotion to the "supremacy of love," making sure each resident's journey is met with genuine care, personal attention, and the right medical expertise, so needs are handled whether it's a short-term rehab, a longer stay, memory care, or a step along the way from independence to more daily support. There are also organized family and resident activities, as well as indoor areas for gathering, so folks can maintain a sense of community and routine, whatever phase of life they're in.

Compassionate staff, inconsistent care concerns
I experienced very caring, helpful staff (Pam, Victoria and social worker Lori stood out), a clean, pleasant facility with strong rehab/therapy, engaging activities and generally thorough communication. However, staffing can be inconsistent-slow nurse response at times, hit-or-miss food, smaller/double rooms and occasional odors-and I heard some families raise serious care/management concerns. I'd recommend it for short-term rehab or families who value compassionate staff, but advise closely checking staffing, safety and long-term care arrangements before committing.
