    Welcoming luxury community, excellent care

I live here and love it - welcoming, interesting residents and compassionate, professional staff who really go out of their way and follow CDC guidelines. The bright, spotless, high-tech building has a luxury vibe, restaurant-style dining (fabulous food), endless activities (swim, classes, arts & crafts, speakers), and reliable bus service to town and the hospital. Onsite rehab and attentive medical staff give me peace of mind. My only real complaints are occasional poor admin communication and understaffed maintenance, but overall I enthusiastically recommend it.

About The Village At Penn State

The Village at Penn State sits about 2.3 miles outside State College, Pennsylvania, at 160 Lions Hill Road, and the place has a variety of care options like assisted living, independent living, memory care, skilled nursing, and hospice care, with help from friendly and trained staff who focus on well-being and kindness, and people can choose between semi-private or private suites in studio, one, or two-bedroom layouts, all with air-conditioning, cable TV, internet, phone, private bathrooms, and kitchenettes if needed. The community has around 14 beds, so it feels comfortable, and it's been rated 8.8 out of 10 by residents and earned 4 stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for nursing home care, and there's always help available day or night through the 24-hour supervision and a call system, along with regular medication management and assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and more like incontinence care or special diet preparation for health needs such as diabetes or hypertension, and trained aides visit homes for non-medical care if someone wants to stay in their own house.

Residents here find maintenance-free living, so meals are fresh and prepared three times daily by chefs using good quality ingredients, and there's regular housekeeping, linen service, and help with chores, plus transportation can be arranged for doctor visits, errands, or even faith-based events, though it's best to check about availability with the facility. The staff coordinates with health providers and supports seniors physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially through daily activities, fitness programs, movie nights, crafts, music, and regular social events, as well as outings and university connections due to its close tie with Penn State campus and places like Palmer Park, making it part of the Liberty Lutheran family of services while also offering unique programs like the Future Resident's Club and various committees for people who want to be active in community life, and there's a monthly newsletter and a shared community room for gatherings.

Special care is available for those with Alzheimer's or other memory conditions, and those who need adult day services or respite care have options as well. Amenities like a book room, hot tub, steam room, salon, garden areas, and recreation rooms, along with cable, internet, and phone access, add comfort, and the facility is designed for both privacy and a sense of belonging. The reputation for friendliness, joyful staff, and involvement in awards like Best of Senior Living come from regular recognition. Residents or their families can schedule tours, check on room availability, and ask about general or employment inquiries. The facility's medium size helps it balance care and activity variety without getting too large or impersonal, and people can choose the amount of support needed, including two-person transfers, standby help, or insulin support upon request. Life Care, Personal Care, and Skilled Nursing are all offered, and seniors find social, physical, and lifestyle activities to help them stay engaged as they age in a peaceful neighborhood setting.
